  Senegal - Air Mails. 1925 Lemaitre and Arrachard, Paris to Dakar and return flights, cover from Etampes (Feb 3) to Dakar franked 25c and bearing the flight vignette tied by oval cachet with Dakar arrival backstamp (Feb 5), and return flight cover from Dakar (Feb 7) to Versaille franked 25c, two flight cachets and backstamps of Le-Golea, Casablanca and Versaille (Mar 24). Also an unused flight vignette and similar imperf vignette produced in 1945 for the 20th anniversary of the flight. 300 Covers carried on the outward flight and 200 covers on the return flight, which set a new distance record of 17,000km in 85 hours flying time. Click to view full image... 1844 (Aug 26) Entire letter from the American merchant Charles Emery in Hong Kong to his wife in Boston, addressed "care of Harnden & Co, No 20 Water Street, Liverpool", the reverse with a superb "HONG-KONG" double arc datestamp, rare red oval "FORWARDED / by / Bush Halsted & Co / HONG KONG" and a Liverpool transit datestamp (Jan 9), the front with a superb circular "HARNDEN & Co / of Liverpool / Have Paid Postage / to LIVERPOOL 1/- / TRANS-ATLANTIC 1/- / TO BE COLLECTED 2/- / by / HARNDEN & Co of U.S.", rated 1/- to G.B and 58 cents in the USA, endorsed "Received by Overland Mail Feb. 21st 1845". Emery states he is sending two copies of this letter, one via the Pacific and overland through Mexico whilst this letter goes the opposite route by the steamer. A little splitting at some of the folds, otherwise superb and a remarkable letter from Hong Kong sent via two forwarding agents, very rare. Photo Inside Back Cover. £1,600-1,800
