Click to view full image... Barred Oval Numerals. 1890 Covers with Barred Oval Numeral cancels and datestamps alongside proving their place of use, comprising "34" used at George (Apr 22), the same "34" numeral used at Wellington (May 19), and "17" used at George (May 8), also three other covers of 1872-90 (Nov) showing the use of B.O.N.C "17" at George. Despite George having the numeral "17" throughout 1890 this group proves it also used B.O.N.C "34" briefly in April of that year, the numeral "34" then being transferred to Wellington by May. Neither Frescura or Nethersole recorded B.O.N.C "34" used at George and this is still the only recorded cover from George. A remarkable proving group. (6). Photo on Page 132. £180-240
