Circular Delivery Co Stamps. 1865 "Lady's Circular" envelope bearing Edinburgh & Leith Parcel Delivery Co. 1865 rouletted 1/4d yellowish-green (CD15, fault at left) cancelled "RB&Co" monogram, the envelope endorsed by the recipient "Delivered at my house 2 Windsor Street on the 13th December 1865 closed & fastened. G. Young, 4 Decemr 1865". A rare use of the Circular Delivery Co. stamp on cover, especially with the monogram cancel. The recipients inscription suggests this was almost certainly one of the envelopes collected by the Post Office and used as evidence in their case against the Circular Delivery Companies, who were found guilty of operating an illegal postal service.
