Stampless Money letters all with the postage paid in cash, six handstamped "Gebuhr bezahlt" or "Freigebuhr", two sent by express delivery. All have a declared value of between 1 billion and 500 billion marks, the highest postage rate being 10.192 billion marks. Internal and external covers, cards and printed matter sent during the final rate period before the new currency was introduced, the stamps sold at four times face value and most items therefore franked at one quarter of the actual postage. Three items posted on the first day of the new rates comprising printed matter franked 4Md, printed matter to South Africa franked 37Md and a registered cover to South Africa franked 340Md; six further items sent on the final day of the rate period (and of the old currency) comprise postcards franked 10Md (3), cover franked 40Md (with various other earlier, and now worthless, stamps added), postcard to Belgium franked 40Md and printed matter to South Africa franked 16Md. Also other registered express covers franked 169Md or 80Md, registered cover franked 40Md, etc. Three cards with file holes and a couple of others with small faults, otherwise fine and a rare group from this very short final period of hyperinflation before a gold currency was introduced.   1940-43 Illustrated stampless covers (3) and a card, the 1943 card sent by a Spanish Blue Division soldier from F.P 18880D in Russia to Spain with a printed illustration of a soldier writing a letter. Also cover with cachets of a sailor and a U Boat, and two covers hand illustrated with caricatures of Churchill and Chamberlain, or with two soldiers one of whom has a lady on his arm (with cachets of Kontroll-Offizier at Stalag IVA). Click to view full image... 1841 Entire letter from a Pensioner in India to London claiming prize money for the capture of the American Schooner "Mary" of Boston off La Guayra in 1814, allowed at the soldiers concession rate, headed "From Bernard McCann, Hon. Compy Pensioner Vellore" and countersigned by the "Fort Adjutant in charge of Pensioners Vellore". Backstamped oval "VELLORE / FREE" and "OUTSTATION / MADRAS / SHIP LETTER" datestamp, carried as a ship letter and therefore charged 4d with a reasonable strike of the scarce "SOLDIERS & SEAMANS LETTER / 4 / BY SHIP" applied in London. Click to view full image... 1858 Cover bearing G.B 1d strip of three + 6d (stamp faults) all tied by "PLYMOUTH / 620" sideways duplexs, sent via Marseille to Lucknow with arrival backstamps of Bombay and Lucknow, but endorsed "Gone to England" and redirected to Cox & Co in London. Handstamped boxed "INDIA UNPAID" and sent back via Southampton, therefore only charged 6d, red boxed "POSTAGE NOT PAID / TO LONDON" applied upon arrival. A few small edge faults but an interesting and busy cover, well written up on an album page with shipping details showing it was carried back on the "Nubia" which broke a shaft near Galle, the mail therefore transferred to the "Bengal" which carried it from Galle to Suez.
