  1923 (Oct 18) G.B. Stampless O.H.M.S cover from Uxbridge to R.A.F Hinaidi originally endorsed "Posted in the box unpaid origin unknown", crossed out and replaced with "By air mail, Certified Official, R.A.F Depot" and signed, red London Official Paid c.d.s and a Bagdad backstamp. Also 1927 G.B 1 1/2d cover to India bearing a blue air mail label but handstamped "INSUFFICIENTLY PAID FOR / TRANSMISSION BY AIR MAIL". The O.H.M.S cover with vertical fold reinforced internally and a little split but an unusual official cover carried by the R.A.F air service from Cairo to Baghdad. (2). £80-100

  1843 (June 9) Stampless O.H.M.S letter to The Secretary, Royal Hospital, Chelsea, containing a questionnaire completed by Joshua Johnstone who served ten years as an artillery driver and who now represents himself to be a pensioner of the Chelsea hospital, posted unpaid from Belfast with handstruck "4" charge and a matching Belfast backstamp. An unusual and scarce late use of the "4" charge mark originally issued during the Uniform 4d Post period, here used three years later in the penny postage period on an unpaid double weight letter, heavy vertical central fold, otherwise fine. £500-600

Click to view full image... 1949 KGVI Perf 13x11 3/4 5c reddish brown and orange block of six (3x2) and 10c black and green marginal block of six (2x3), each locally handstamped by violet "SPECIMEN" (Samuel type K4), the 5c block with thins to two stamps, 10c block laid down on thin card, folded along central vertical perforation. Two uncommon blocks each with their sheet position shown on the reverse in pencil. One sheet of 100 stamps of each value received this Specimen handstamp, with some stamps having severe faults. The WW1 Northern Rhodesia A.P.O 2 datestamp was used in 1919-21 at the civil P.O at Kasanga; very few examples of this unusual post-war use are recorded.
