Click to view full image... 1944 (Oct 30) Registered air mail cover from the Polish Settlement at Masindi to a Polish P.O.W in Stalag XXA in Germany directed via the Red Cross in Geneva, with violet "POLISH REFUGEE CAMP / MASINDI 2" and "R" registration handstamps, a 30c pair and 1/- tied by "MASIDI 2 / UGANDA" double ring datestamps, backstamped at Kampala, Lisbon (27 Feb 45) and Geneva (6 Oct 45). An exceptional destination from the Polish Camp, received at Geneva eleven months after posting and five months after the war had ended, clearly delayed by the wartime conditions. The cover could not have been delivered to Germany, and may have been returned under cover, or simply delivered to the Swiss Red Cross as the final address. Photo on Page 111. £150-180
