1802 (Apr 15) Entire letter prepaid 7d to Ford near Wiveliscombe with "ABERGAVENNY / 172" and "ABERGAVENNY / 154" mileage marks on the front. Abergavenny was issued with two mileage marks in 1801, showing 154 miles for the route to London via Gloucester or 172 miles for the route via Usk, Newport and Bristol. An extraordinary use of both marks on one letter, the only such item we have seen from any town. Photo on Page 236. £150-200
