Unrecorded by Robertson or Tabeart but presumably applied at Cork; the London handstamp type S34 is similar but only has small serifs to the lettering, unlike this handstamp which shows large serifs, most notably on the "E". Kenmare. 1822 Entire letter from New York to Bordeaux, landed at the tiny Irish port of Kenmare which never had its own Ship Letter handstamp, therefore endorsed "Ship Letter" and handstamped blue "KENMARE / 156". The reverse with the forwarding agents endorsement "London 27 Feby 1822, Sampson Cazenove & Bateing". Just two other manuscript Ship Letters are recorded from Kenmare, all three having been carried on the same voyage from New York on the Dutch ship "Jungfrouw Johanna" which was bound for Holland, but presumably made an emergency call at Kenmare having been blown off course.
