  1942 Cover to Alexandria per S.S "Fouadieh" franked 2pi cancelled blue circular "CUSTOMS / FAMAGUSTA" containing the royal arms, the reverse with two further strikes and a handstamp of the Collector of Customs certifying the envelope contained shipping documents relating to the cargo and crew of the "Fouadieh". Also the reverse of a 1941 envelope with 1½pi and 2½pi pair cancelled by similar "CUSTOMS / LIMASSOL" cachets and endorsed "Seen, ships documents", and a commercial cover to London with KGVI ½pi, 1pi cancelled "KHEDIVIAL MAIL LINE / S.S FOUADIEH". A very unusual trio, the scarce 'Customs' cancels both ex Cruttwell. (3). £200-240

  1929 (May 25) Cover from Famagusta to USA franked 4pi endorsed "via Avion Postale a Cherbourg"; 1929 (May 30) Stockholm to London first flight cover addressed to Limassol; 1929 covers franked 1pi to Sweden, inscribed to go by air from Constantinople to Stockholm via Vienna, Berlin, Stettin and Kalmar, posted July 19 with special air post arrival c.d.s of July 29, or posted August 30 (2 covers) with Sep. 7 arrival c.d.s; and 1930 Jamaica to Miami first flight cover addressed to Kyrenia. Five scarce covers, predating the first flights directly from Cyprus. (6). £240-280

Click to view full image... 1930 (Aug 7) Cover from Limassol to Sweden franked 2½pi, taken by sea to Alexandria and then flown by Imperial Airways, the first official air mail from Cyprus, just 36 covers carried; and 1930 (Sep. 25 and Oct. 16) covers franked 2½pi from Limassol to England flown on the second and fourth experimental flights from Famagusta to Haifa and Alexandria. Just five experimental flights directly from Famagusta occurred in 1930; no mail was carried on the first of these, and as few as 20 covers are believed to have been carried on some of the other four flights. Illegal Jewish Immigration Camps, 1946-49

Specimen Cancellations" showing the "H.Q.3 CAMP / DATE ....... / STAFFS (SPECIAL) CYPRUS" and two differing "70 Camp Staff Special" cachets, with the date "30 OCT 1947" applied separately, a typed and signed note below certifying that the above cancels are authorised for use on IJI mail from 70 Camp, but will be discontinued as soon as the Army Post Office provide a normal canceller.   1881 (Mar 6) 1d Postcard with Cyprus overprint cancelled by Larnaca c.d.s, addressed to Whitfield King & Co., the message asking them for their buying price for 100 examples of used ½d or 1d Cyprus stamps. The message a little water affected causing it to faintly show through to the front, otherwise fine, a scarce card used. Also overprint issue ½d, 1d, 1½d cards and 1d wrapper unused, and cut-outs of the first ½d postcard stamp and 1d wrapper stamp both cancelled "942". (7). £150-180
