1842-44 Entire letters and entires bearing 1d reds (7) and a 1d pink postal stationery envelope (stained) all with the stamps tied by two Maltese Cross handstamps, from Cheltenham, Egham, Bishops Stortford, Airdrie, Mid Calder, Dungloe, Sheffield or Pembroke, also a 1d red tied to piece with three Maltese Crosses. Three covers with four margin stamps, the others mostly with three margins. (9). £160-200

1841-43 Entire letters or entires bearing four margin 1d reds tied by a Maltese Cross, each with a second Maltese Cross applied alongside the stamp, sent from Manchester (9 Dec 1841), Hull (30 Aug 1843) or Spilsby (23 May 1842). This unusual practice is well known from Spilsby in 1840-42, but is rarely seen from other towns; this Spilsby cover is the latest recorded double Maltese Cross from that town. (3). Maltese Cross + Penny Post Cancels

1841 Entire letter to Derby bearing two four margin 1d reds each cancelled "Amlwch / Penny Post" in red, each stamp then additionally cancelled by a black Maltese Cross in transit at Bangor, with Derby arrival datestamp below the stamps and a Bangor backstamp. Maltese Cross + Undated Circle Cancels

1843 (Mar 10) Entire to Aberystwyth most extraordinarily franked by three quarters of a 1d red (missing the top quarter, possibly a postal fraud?) cancelled by "PEMBREY" undated circle with a second strike on the reverse, the stamp then further cancelled in transit by a Maltese Cross in black, backstamped at Carmarthen and Aberystwyth. 1854 (Sep 15) Cover from Knoyle to Glastonbury bearing a perforated 1d red (lower two corners clipped) tied by a black Maltese Cross. Backstamped with "KNOYLE" undated circle and datestamps of Hindon, Salisbury, Bath, Taunton and Glastonbury. Danzig and Goldsmith recorded a Maltese Cross in use at Knoyle in December 1853.
