1937 (May 5) Picture postcard addressed to Frankfurt written and posted on the airship on May 5th by a passenger Emil Stockle, bearing an uncancelled Hindenburg 50pf with small portion of a second stamp destroyed by fire, "NEW YORK N.Y / MAY 10 / PAQUEBOT" duplex applied. The New York Paquebot datestamp was applied to 176 uncancelled items of mail recovered from the Hindenburg after the disasterous fire at Lakehurst on May 6th; nearly all these items were put on the airship before departure at Frankfurt, this card being one of just three recorded "Paquebot" items written and posted on board the airship. Because these items were addressed back to Europe they were stored uncancelled in a metal box in the airship post office and would have been cancelled on the return flight. A rare item of "onboard paquebot mail" from the Hindenburg crash, with Dieter Leder Certificate (2008). Photo Inside Back Cover. £8,000-10,000

Handed in at Frankfurt for posting on the return flight, recovered after the Lakehurst crash on May 6th, the New York Paquebot datestamp applied to the uncancelled recovered mail, much of which was found in crew members pockets. A scarce item of "Frankfurt paquebot mail" from the Hindenburg disaster, with Alexander Berezowski Certificate (1937). Photo Inside Back Cover. £4,000-5,000
