Also six photos taken during the flight, one depicting the mail bag being handed to Raynham in his aeroplane.   Cape of Good Hope. c.1820-47 Entire letters (2) and entires (10) all to the Master of the Supreme Court in Cape Town, one apparently allowed free as official mail, the others prepaid (7, five with boxed "POST PAID") or unpaid and charged upon arrival (4, one charged 3/3, two with boxed "TO PAY"), five with circular crown handstamps of Worcester, George, Uitenhagen, Caledon or Port Elizabeth, three with Cape Town datestamps. Also two 1834 printed letters from the Master of the Supreme Court regarding insolvency matters, the address panels with printed O.H.M.S headings, addressed within Cape Town, probably hand delivered. Boer War

  1900-02 Covers and a G.B 1d postcard all posted into civilian offices, 22 bearing G.B stamps (three of these in combination with O.F.S or Transvaal stamps), one cover with Pretoria c.d.s applied away from the G.B 2½d which is cancelled upon arrival in London and a "T" handstamp crossed out, five others with stamps disallowed or underpaid and postage due handstamps applied. Cancellations include "2" numeral of Durban and circular dumb cork cancel with Mooi River c.d.s alongside, also stampless cover endorsed "Passed censor no stamps procurable" transferred from the civil P.O to the F.P.O with 2d charge mark, cover posted at Pretoria with O.F.S stamp disallowed and charged 2d, etc. An interesting group mostly franked contrary to regulations, eleven sent within South Africa, the others to G.B, Europe or St. Helena. Click to view full image... 1914 (Apr 16) Registered cover to USA with nine KGV ½d stamps to pay the correct 4½d rate, five stamps on the front and a further four stamps on the reverse all tied by Road Town datestamps, with a "PAID / AT / TORTOLA" crowned circle handstamp on the front, transit datestamps of St. Thomas and New York. The first type Tortola crowned circle handstamp, issued in 1842, was reused in 1903-21 on official mail and items with stamps on the reverse.
