Scott, who worked for Waterlow & Sons from 1935-40 and 1946-61, becoming Manager of the Artists Department, and then went to work for Harrison & Sons. The interesting lot includes a fine large painting of Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia on card with two die proofs of this portrait, probably produced for a banknote; two examples of security printing in differing colours inscribed "WATERLOW & SONS LIMITED", and proofs of various security printed background designs (11) probably all produced for banknotes; 1976 Concorde Bahrain to London cover with signatures of the flight crew on a separate overlay; handpainted edge pattern designs (6) and a picture of Spanish Conquistadors fighting South American Indians, produced for documents or banknotes; Sultan of Brunei portrait, printed and photographic proofs; artwork of ships and boats on thick card (5); heraldic design artwork and photographic proofs (3); 1984 TUC Tolpuddle Martyrs F.D.C original artwork (2) and proof; transparent overlay with handpainted Beefeater and Tower of London; artwork and proofs (2) of an unknown man; stamp size photos of fishing industry artwork (8), etc. Also a 1961 copy letter from Waterlow confirming Scott's 26 years service and stating he is only leaving due to the closure of the Waterlow factory.
