I expect Wood & Buller will butter one another up & make out they did everything, especially Buller & as there is no one to contradict them going home they will have it all their own way & say we did nothing at all. None of the Zulus will come in to this column, they all go to Crealocks Column, they say they got a great deal too much knocked about at Ulundi & dont like this column." He then includes drawings of a horse he is to race the following day, and of mimosa thorns. Also a second letter and cover from Durban (Aug 25, stamp removed), which includes "They havent caught Ketchwayo & I dont suppose they will for the kaffirs never let out where their chiefs are & I dont see why the Zulus should. The party after Ketchwayo lost 3 horses to lions the other day. I have got some shields & assegais & will send them to you ..... they have all been at Isandhlwana or Ulundi as I got them myself".
