1921 (Oct 20) Survey flight by Francis Birtles, Lieut. F.S. Briggs and G. Bailey from Alice Springs to Adelaide, endorsed "Per favour Lieut. Briggs by aeroplane, Alice Springs to Adelaide", bearing KGV 1d (2) cancelled upon arrival in Adelaide (Oct 24). Also a photographic postcard of the DH4 aircraft at Alice Springs with an admiring crowd of mainly aborigine children and the MacDonald Ranges in the background, the reverse inscribed and signed by Briggs - "Here you are Egg. First aeroplane to arrive in Alice Springs, Oct. 5th 1921, Lieut Briggs. Pilot". 1921 (Dec 4) Cover franked 5d from Perth (Dec 3) to Broome carried on the first flight by WAA from Perth to Derby, the flight however abandoned at Murchison Horse Station, the mails then being returned to Perth and dispatched on the S.S "Bambra". With the "PERTH DERBY / 4 DE 21 / WA / AERIAL MAIL" skeleton datestamp and Broome backstamp (Dec 19). 2,288 Letters carried, of which about 700 were for towns north of Geraldton, these finally being delivered by ship. 1921 (Dec 29) Cover franked 5d from Marble Bar to Narrogin endorsed "Per 1st Aerial Mail", intended to be carried on the first southbound non-contract air mail flight by WAA from Derby to Perth, abandoned due to engine trouble south of Broome, the mails then delivered by the S.S "Bambra" (this cover being collected by the S.S "Bambra" when it called at Port Hedland).
