1887 Long cover from New Zealand to England franked by G.B 1883-84 6d green pair and 1/-, a Christchurch squared circle applied alongside the uncancelled stamps, endorsed "English stamps not recognised" and a 2/6 charge, handstamped "INSUFF. STAMPED (2/-) / FINE (6d)". The cover was landed at Plymouth and sorted on the T.P.O to Bristol, the 2/- worth of G.B stamps cancelled by "PLYMOUTH TO BRISTOL T.P.O" datestamps and this amount being deducted from the postage due with a circular "6d" charge applied, the "2/6" charge being obliterated by four "B16" numerals and the "Insuff. stamped 2/-" crossed out. An exceptionally unusual cover, British stamps correctly deducted from any charges upon arrival in G.B (from 1875), in this case just leaving the 6d fine due. Ex Harold Wilson.
