  MEDALS & MINIATURES 7th LONDON R CASUALTY BWM, etc. Including a Great War pair named to Paymaster S. Lt M Gutteridge RNR, with a miniature set mounted for wear. Also a large silver and enamel neck award, Past President Typewriter & Allied Trades Federation of Gt Britain & N Ireland. Hallmarks for Birmingham 1945. Marcell Gutteridge also awarded a Long Service R N R medal in 1926, as J33822. A British War Medal named to 548 J Boon 7th-London R. Pte John Boon the son of Arthur Thomas and Clara Boon of 40 Gt Sutton Street, Clerkenwell, London, was KIA in France on the 16th May 1915. He had landed on the 18th March 1915, buried in Post Office Rifles Cemetery, Festubert. Grave Ref 1.C.1. (Entitled to a 1914/15 Star & Victory Medal) A Miniature medal group of five medals, mounted for wear. 1939/45, Atlantic Star with France & Germany bar, Africa Star with N Africa 1942-42 bar, Defence & War medals. Believed to be the son of M Gutteridge, he also served in the Navy. A Great War pair named to 107706 Spr E B Whitton. RE. Also two original postcard photographs of the recipient in France. £100-140

A British War Medal named to 506 Sgt L Say 3-Bn A.I.F. A Victory Medal named to 506 Sjt L Say MM. 1-M G C A.I.F. A 1914/15 Star named to 394 Pte D Saye 12/BN A.I.F. British War & Victory Medals named to 394 Pte D Saye 12-BN. A.I.F. The Say brothers left Somerset to seek their future in Australia prior to the Great War. Leonard Say was a School Teacher at Corryong School, Victoria. He enlisted in the 3rd Battalion A.I.F and sailed for the front on the 20th October 1914 in HMAT Euripides. Promoted to Sergeant he was serving in the 1st Company 1st Australian Machine Gun Corps, when he was awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette Number 30431 14th December 1917. This was an immediate award for his 'Leadership and Courage during the action on the 4th October 1917' A copy of the original letter dated 28th May 1918 from The Commonwealth of Australia. Department of Defence. Base Records Office A.I.F. Melbourne, reads thus. Dear Sir, I have much pleasure in forwarding herewith Copy of extract from Third Supplement No 30431 to the London Gazette dated 14th Dec 1917 relating to the Conspicuous Services rendered by your son the late No 506 Sergeant L Say 1st Machine Gun Company. Awarded the Military Medal. 'His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve the award of the Military Medal for bravery in the field to the undermentioned non-commissioned officer No 506 Sergeant L Say. The above has been promulgated in Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No 66 dated 2nd May 1918. (Also Douglas Stanley Say 1st Australian Infantry fell at Gallipolli May 24th 1915. This is the only record I have of him & no official number) Yours Faithfully W Mackintosh Capt. For Officer I/C Base Records. Leonard Say was Killed in Action at Passchendale aged 26 years on the 17th November 1917. He is commemorated on Panel 31 of the Menin Gate Memorial. A superb photograph of Sgt Say is on the Australian Memorial Site. Douglas Stanley Say (Saye) enlisted at Hobart Tasmania, whilst employed as 1st assistant at Messrs Hawkins & Co of Hobart. He sailed on the 24th October 1914 in HMAT Geelong, in the 12th Battalion A.I.F. Severley wounded at Gallipoli he was taken by Hospital Ship to the Bombay Presidency Egypt where he Died of his Wounds on the 24th May 1915. Both were the sons of George and Elizabeth Say of The Manse, Middle Lambrook, South Petherton, Somerset. aged 26. Three small original photographs of the Say brothers, are with the Medals. Their Father was alive when the news of their deaths arrived, their mother had been dead for some time. £1800-2200

The 51mm diameter medal is also inscribed with Perse School Cambridge 1905. Elkington Makers is marked on the underside on the lid, of this original issue case. A cased Air Ministry Athletic Association inscribed on the reverse, Tug of War Cup 1930, Winner, K M Sturton. A boxed GVI Special Constabulary medal named to Harry G Tupman. Also a boxed RLSS medal to J A Tupman 1930 and two worn George III Crown pieces. £80-100
