A ROYAL NAVY ARTILLERY VOLUNTEER OFFICERS SWORD. An unusual sword by Silver & Co of London, with Naval mounts and a Scottish Broadsword blade of 31.1/2" length. The etched blade with twin three-quarter length fullers, bears the Victorian Crown over Anchor with RNAV entwined. The blade has very light rusting in parts in a few places, the scabbard is present though requires refurbishment. The hilt is in the Naval style with the same device in the cartouche, as on the blade also with RNAV present. The RNAV were formed in 1873 and disbanded in 1892, amid much outcry and public condemnation. £120-160

A 1796 LIGHT CAVALRY TROOPERS SWORD. The 32.3/4" single-edged curved blade lacks the final 1/4-3/8" of its tip, it is though in clean condition with very little rusting present. The hilt and scabbard are both in need of refurbishment, the blade has Woolley & Deakin on the blade spine. (C1800-1805) £100-150

A 1796 VARIANT SWORD. A Sword and partial scabbard based on the 1796 Light Cavalry pattern. Three bar hilt with carved wooden grip, 30.1/4" single-edged curved blade, with three-quarter fullers. Partial wooden scabbard with traces of leather covering, with steel mounts. Rust to both blade and mounts evident, no visible markings evident. £70-100

A 12B SIDELOCK EJECTOR BY BENTLEY & PLAYFAIR. A side by side 12 Bore with ornately engraved actions and scalloped breech with top lever opening. 27.1/2" barrels with Bentley & Playfair London. Agt F Dumond 21 Rue Des Pyramides Paris, on the top rib. Original colour hardening is evident in places, the barrels are marked .732" from proofing around 1970. The actions have Bentley & Playfair amid foilage decoration. Numbered 77301. Contained in a Charles Boswell labelled webbing case, with the initials J N G on the lid. Captain Jack Norman Gilbey of the Welsh Regiment ordered the gun from Messrs Bentley & Playfair. A renowned shoot who served with distinction during World War One. A highly rated shot who was connected to many shoots including Audley End in Essex. A QUEEN ANNE FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY J WILLETS OF WEDNESBURY. A turn-off barrel Queen Anne Pistol with TB and two other proof marks, below the action. The round 6.1/2" barrel turns easily, the action is in order with both half and full cock working. The butt has silver wire inlay and escutcheon plate, also a Devils Mask butt plate. The flags and arms are above the triggerguard with the steel action etc, being engraved in places. Jno Willetts had shops in London and Birmingham between 1744-1789. Two French Flintlock turn-off barrels pocket or coat pistols, marked Paris on the actions. 2.1/4" barrels with recessed fit into the forestock, side actions with all steel furniture. Flared steel butt plates with carved decoration to the grip behaind the actions. 7.1/2" overall length, in a fitted wooden case, with a powder flask and a bullet mould of a larger calibre, being present. Coarse rifling is evident in the barrels, formed by 12 grooves. £800-1000

A CASED WEBLEY MK II SERVICE AIR RIFLE. A Webley Service Rifle in a leather case with Webley & Scott Ltd Premier Works Birmingham label in the lid. The bolt action Air Rifle has Patent No 371548 on peep sight mount, the winged W&S badge on the other side. Various other patents are marked on the action, also the makers details. Complete with .177 and .22 barrels, both marked S520, as is the rifle behind the trigger guard. Some tools and various Webley & Scott tins with pellets, are also in the case. £700-1000

AN ENGRAVED WEBLEY MARK II SERVICE RIFLE .22. A wooden cased Webley Mark II Service Air Rifle, with both barrel and rifle numbered S11055/11055. With partial foilage engraving to the barrel, the action itself is almost fully engraved. Amid the foilage in an wavy scroll is Webley Service Air Rifle Mk II. The engraving appears to be of a very high standard, perhaps a presentation or one off piece. A Webley oil can and pellet tin, tools etc are included in the lot. £800-1000

A PERCUSSION POCKET PISTOL. A percussion pocket pistol with swivel ramrod and octagonal 3.1/2" barrel, marked Harcourt Ipswich on the barrel top. engraved circular action with centre-fire hammer. Chequered grip with devils mask buttplate, concealed trigger and silver escutcheon plate. 7.1/2" overall length. John Harcourt of Ipswich was known for quality weapons he made, including Flintlock Duelling Pistols and Holster and pocket pistols etc. Recorded as working between 1780 and 1830. £200-250

Caused in the main by the octagonal barrel of 10" length with small calibre rifled finish. Spur on the trigger guard and a fine balance shows the makers quality of workmanship, for which he was well known. Chequered pistol grip with steel buttplate and furniture. Steel action with ornate engraving and sliding safety catch, 16" overall length. William Moore was a maker of quality Flintlock weapons including Duelling Pistols and rifled pistols etc, C1790-1835 period. £300-400

A HOLLIS FLINTLOCK PISTOL. A Flintlock coat or pocket pistol marked R Hollis and London. A round barrel of 5" with flat top, platinum touch hole and breech band. Sliding safety on the steel action with attractive decoration to the borders. Almost fullstock with swivel ramrod, chequered grip and plain buttcap. 10.3/4" overall length. Richard Hollis is recorded as a working Gunsmith in London. After 1850 the name was changed to Richard Hollis & Son, until 1886. £350-500

A SPANISH TARGET PISTOL. A Spanish percussion target pistol with amkers inset plaques and markings for Diego Esquibel, En Madrid.The barrel is dated 1719 with octagonal decorated breech, finished in a round barrel. The conversion to percussion appears to be by fitting a percussion action and breech, to the earlier barrel with tow folding rear sights. With the conversion the barrel measures 11.1/4" in length. The fullstock and ramrod are finished in a multi-grooved grip, with a steel buttcap. The gun itself is attractively finished with silver or gold embellishments to the barrel. 17.1/2" overall length. With steel furniture and spur on the triggerguard, a ramrod is present £300-400

A DURS EGG PERCUSSION PISTOL. A large percussion holster style pistol with octagonal 10" barrel inlaid with gold bands and underslung ramrod. Of heavy construction with chequered grip, stell furniture and silver escutcheon plate. The engraved action and side hammer, have D Egg amid the foilage. 15.1/2" overall length. Durs Egg was a celebrated London Gunmaker, working between 1770 and 1834 holding the Royal Warrant of the Prince Regent, later George IV. From 1834 a descendant D I Egg carried on the business until 1865. £250-350

AN 18thC BAVARIAN HUNTING RIFLE. A wheel-lock German hunting rifle of considerable quality. Carved fullstocked with classical cheek-plate and sliding compartment containing the winder. An octagonal flared barrel of 33.5/8" length, which has a coarse rifling of some seven grooves. The ornate stock is carved with chequered and swirl patterns with brass and steel furniture. The very ornate wheel-lock action consists of a mystical beast flint striker, with a dog and a deer hunting scene in good detail. With an overall length of some 46.1/2". The lockplate bears the makers name as Andreas Pehiem or Beheim. Probably around 1740, makers of this name/family were listed as working in the 16th/17th Centuries. Under his name is Wasserburg, which was situated in Bavaria. £2000-3000
