Pilot signed at lower right. Only 2 carried AAMC 265 A$1,500. Note: this attempted flight by J.M. Weir was abandoned in Karachi and the covers were sent by steamer to London. This was a pure pleasure flight by the 19 year old Weir. The aircraft called "Edith" after his mother had on board a set of golf clubs and the letters "L.K. W." (Lord Knows Where) along the fuselage. JIMMY BROADBENT FLIES FROM AUSTRALIA TO ENGLAND AND BACK IN THREE DIFFERENT AIRCRAFT: 1935 (10 Oct) env from Australia to England in a "Dabbs III" which is force landed at Basra. The pilot (Jimmy Broadbent) completes his journey as a passenger with Imperial Airways. The pilot then flies the env from London to Australia in a "Percival Gull" which is delivered to Sir Gordon Taylor in the then fastest time for the journey.
