NAPOLEON BONAPARTE - LETTER FROM HIS DOCTOR AT "LONGWOOD" COMPLAINING ABOUT THE FOOD; 21 Jan. 1817 letter (typed transcript; overall slight toning - no address wrapper - sent locally within the island) from "Longwood" written & signed by Napoleon's Irish doctor "Barry E. O'Meara" to "Sir. T. Reade" (Deputy Adjutant-General on the island) complaining on Napoleon's behalf about the very poor quality of mutton and cabbage supplied for him. Napoleon was not a fussy eater apparently, but it seems that the local suppliers were sending him the very worst food that they could find.
