EARLY "SAV LA MAR" MARK WITH "JAMAICA" ON PACKET LETTER TO G.B.; 11 Nov. 1781 EL (some wear & reinforced folds) from "Carncurran" to Scotland "P the Thynne Pacquet" charged "10" then "1N6" and endorsed "Pd Inld Poste 1/3" with a mainly fine rare early "SAV LA MAR" (earliest known date?) on the flap partly overstruck by a London transit Bishop Mark with a mainly fine "JAMAICA" mark of Kingston alongside; a second Bishop Mark shows that the flap of the letter was incomplete before it reached England. AIRMAILS - IMPERIAL AIRWAYS FLIGHTS: 1929-33 envs (9) flown from Malta to connect with various Imperial Airways flights inc. 1929 (28 March) 1st flight UK to Karachi. 1929 (15 April) env with "Posted at Gosport, England under cover to the Postmaster General, Malta" intended to be forwarded on the 1st through flight to India this was not achieved but ended in the dead letter office at Bombay. 1932 (16 Jan) env to S. Africa carried on the 1st UK to S. Africa service, another of the same date and flight returned to sender. 1935 (29 June) env carried on the 1st Karachi to Calcutta flight. 1933 (16 Dec) Malta to Bangkok third flight. A fine group. American flight from Freidrichshafen to Buenos Aires with boxed Gondola cachet. The prepaid the 2/9d airmail fee but omitted to pay the normal postage and was charged "T 50c" due. A rare flight. Also a cover dated 19th Aug 1933 that was registered to Brazil but missed the 5th flight and was sent by the air-sea link on the Marseilles-Casablanca-Dakar-Natal-Pernambuco route arriving on the 26 Aug.
