Newfoundland. 1910 Printed card with the British and Newfoundland flags, headed "NEWFOUNDLAND 1610 - 1910", the set of eleven 300th Anniversary stamps applied above the printed wording "Issue of Newfoundland stamps to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the earliest settlement in the British Empire made in Conception Bay Newfoundland in June 1610, with the Compliments of the Government of Newfoundland", signed by the Prime Minister E. Morris. The reverse bears an attached printed letter sent from the Strand Palace Hotel in London forwarding a set of the stamps with each described, with an arrival cachet of the British Trade Commissioner in Montreal. Backstamped oval framed "MISSENT / TO LIVERPOOL / ENGLAND" with "29 July 1841" written below, returned to Halifax on the Cunard "Caledonia", backstamped at Quebec (Sep 23).
