AN OFFICER'S MINIATURE - 15ct SWEETHEART BROOCH etc. A miniature with a portrait of Lt J H Hornby RE, his identity bracelet, also 15ct gold Royal Engineers sweetheart brooch. Lt John Henry Hornby served in France and Flanders from 1916, he was Killed In Action on the 7th November 1918. Wounded almost as soon as he arrived at the front during the Battle of the Somme, he was also Mentioned in Despatches. The second son of Stephen Langton Hornby, his elder brother Captain Hugh Hornby Died of Wounds in July 1918, whilst serving with the R Inniskilling Fus. Original sketch photographic portrait of John Hornby, whose young lady was Miss Madelaine Aylwin-Foster of Cheltenham, 'Bunny' was close to him. Caricature sketches of her reproduced, also an envelope addressed to her. £200-250

Death Plaque named to George James Figgins, 1/5th Battn London Rifle Brigade, who is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Date of Death 09/10/1916. Another Death Plaque named to Arthur George Figgins, who is commemorated on the Loos Memorial. Date of Death is 25/09/1915. Serving with the 1st/19th Battalion London Regt. Both Plaques are in their original cases, one also has the original postage envelope. 1914/15 Star and war medals, named to 1721 Pte H Carloss, R.Fus. Some original medals and ribbons are with this lot. £180-220
