AN AIRCREW CASUALTY GROUP. 1939/45 & Aircrew Europe stars, War Medal and named RAF slip of awards, 1564310 Sgt Bannatyne. Box of issue sent to Mrs A Bannatyne of Ayr (Mother) and Condolence slip named to Sergeant W W Bannatyne. Original correspondence includes letters from the Royal Air Force and Air Ministry, news received from the Red Cross, also the Commandant of 467 Squadron (Royal Australian Air Force). Original Telegrams and Grave photograph and communications etc. The original letter from Sgt William 'Watson' Bannatyne to his sister, to be read on confirmation of his death. etc. The Death Scroll from Buckingham Palace, a list of the crew members. (Three killed-four POW's) Lost on a mission to Germany 17th April 1943, whilst on a Bombing Raid. A letter written to Mrs Bannatyne from FO Stitt (Crew member-Navigator) upon his repatriation from a German Prisoner of War Camp a (Stalug Luft), 30/5/1945. He records his coming around on the ground, amazed he had survived, 'Jock or Watson' our Tail Gunner was of a humurous twist, a great pleasure to fly with. It would appear that Sgt Bannatynes aircraft was the first of the Squadrons Aircraft, that failed to return from an active bombing operation. Flying Lancasters from Nottingham, the Squadron was to have 780 casualties by the end of hostilities, with nearly 300 aircrew as POW's. £300-400

Death Plaque in card case, envelope and with the Kings Letter, is named to Edmund Putnam. 2/Lt Edmund Putnam the son of Frederick and Frances Ellen Putnam, husband of M Putnam of 83 Etchingham Park Road, Finchley London. Aged 36 years and serving with The Garrison Artillery, 383 Siege Battery, date of death given as the 16/04/1918. Buried in Grave B57 in Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery. £120-150

A DOVER PATROL CBE GROUP OF FIVE MEDALS. A cased Commander of the British Empire decoration awarded to Captain K Kiddle RN. A 1914/15 Star named to Cmmr K Kiddle RN. British war & Victory medals named to Capt K Kiddle RN. A Defence medal, unamed as issued. Captain Kerrison Kiddle was a Destroyer specialist who was serving in HMS Active, when he was mentioned in Despatches 23-5-1917. His CBE was awarded for his; Ability and great organising powers especially in getting Destroyers ready for sea, when out of action and required for service against the enemy. He did really good service as Captain (D) of the Dover Patrol in the earlier stages of the war, whilst on the aforementioned ship. Serving in the Royal Navy until the mid 1930's, he was involved in munitions in WWII. Born in 1876 he married in 1909 Hjordis Holter, daughter of Consul General O Holter of Oslo & Christiania (See his awards in later lot). During his Gt War service he was in the 4th Destroyer Flotilla Dover Patrol. Later commanded a Depot Ship of the Grand Fleet. Sub Lt on HMS Ardent 1897-98. Took part in the actions in Crete, specialised in Torpedo attacks. Cmmr 1911 Captain 1918. Commanded HMS Contest in the Grand Fleet 1914-16. HMS Active 1916-17. HMS Greenwich Grand Fleet Depot Ship 1917. In command 5th Destroyer Flotilla 1919 (Despatches CBE). Retired List 1922. In W W II 1942-45 In Chief Inspector of Naval Ordinance in Plymouth. CIVIL GREEK AWARDS TO O HOLTER. Consul General to the Greek King from Christiania Denmark, he was awarded the Greek Order of George I (3rd Class Civil) and the Order of the Redeemer breast medal. THE MEDALS OF SJT J O KIDDLE RAF/COLONIAL OFFICE. A group of six medals with the 1939/45-Africa & Italy stars, Defence & War medals mounted for wear. A General Service Medal GVI with bar Malaya, named to J O Kiddle, son of Capt K KIddle CBE RN trd. Serving in the Royal Air Force as an Air Gunner Sjt in W W II in the battles for N Africa & Italy, his AG brevet is with the medals. After the war he served in the Colonial Office as a District Officer in Malaya, during the hostilities, awarded Medal and Bar Malaya. (loose on ribbon). Fl Lt J O Kiddle 157048 RAF relinquished his commission on the 8/10/1946, to join the colonial service. £100-150

W W II MEDALS & SPORTING AWARDS etc A group of five medals to a naval officer, with MID emblem, mounted for wear with matching miniature group. 1939/45-Atlantic-Africa-Pacific with Burma Bar-War Medal with Oak Leaf. Awarded to Cmmr H M Clark RN with Life Saving and Sporting medallions. The son of Major H J Clark OBE, he entered the Royal Navy prior to WWII. AN OBE GT WAR GROUP OF FOUR MEDALS. Cased Order of the British Empire, 1914 Star named to Lt H J Clark ASC. British War & Victory medals named to Major H J Clark. Herbert James Clark was born on the 13th May 1866, the son of the late Rev William Clark CMS. He married Mary Elisabeth Howard, daughter of the late Rev T Howard Gill of Paris and Tonbridge Kent. Educated privately he was employed with the Indian Railways Service, prior to obtaining a commission as a Lt in October 1914. By the 1st of November he was in France serving with the 4th Indian & British Cavalry Division throughout most of the war. Firstly France & Belgium and later Germany where he was stationed after the war ended. He commanded the Army Patrol Installation in Reisholz, Army of the Rhine. Twice Mentioned in Despatches and entitled to the Mons Bar. He lived in 58 Upperton Road, Eastbourne, Kent. LG 25/05/1918 LG 10/07/1919 OBE. See Illustration £300-400

TWO CASED OBE's. Two Order of the British Empire awards, in cases of issue. A man's gilt finished breast badge and a ladies mounted on a bow, both for wear. Toye Kenning & Spencer cased former, Royal Mint cased ladies issue. The ladies issue was awarded to Miss Elizabeth Clark (Matron Sheffield Hospital) Miss Clark nursed from 1934 onwards, spending her life travelling abroad to learn how treatment differed from ours.
