AN ASHANTEE MEDAL TO HMS SEAGULL. An 1874 African medal awarded to S Keirl, Pte. R.M. HMS Seagull for the Gold Coast 1874, in the conflict against King Kalkali of Ashantee. Four VC's were awarded during the brutal month long fighting, of this campaign. HMS Seagull a barque of 665 Tons with sail and power and with a crew of 90, was awarded the medal without bars. Launched in 1868 and saw service on the coast of West Africa and the East Indies. £180-220
