ISLE OF MAN POSTAL HISTORY - TRANSATLANTIC BOXED "Peeltown/Isle of Man" COVER + 1d RED COVER EX RUSHEN GAOL; 4 May 1844 EL (light toning) from "Reaby, KK Patrick" prepaid "1/-" to New York with fine rare boxed "Peeltown/Isle of Man" on the front with v. fine "ISLE-OF-MAN" Douglas cds, red "BOSTON/SHIP" cds and "27" (cents to pay) in circle. Early transatlantic mail from IOM is very rare indeed. Plus Nov. 1844 EL "From the Once Countess of Derby's Dining Room, Castle Rushen Palace" with fine 4-margin 1d Red (AD) tied by v. fine "407" - from "J. W. RARE RED GLASGOW, MISSENT, TOO LATES, BLUE TYPES, ETC.; 1813-39 covers with a good range of types of Addl/½ marks (almost all very fine) inc. v. fine rare red boxed 1838 Glasgow "½", 1837 EL with 2 boxed "MISSENT/TO/GLASGOW" marks (struck in error for the ½d mark and crossed out!) on the front with "Addl/½" and with Mae West "TOO LATE" on reverse, 1822 red Edinr.
