PERU - 1834/5 LETTERS WRITTEN ON BOARD HMS BLONDE IN CALLAO - 16 Apr 1835 EL (splitting, losses) to The Duke of Newcastle from his son Edward serving aboard HMS Blonde, with commentary on the 1835 Chilean earthquake and details of being robbed at point of a musket "...told me if I did not hold my tongue, they would, as they express it, lift the lid of my Brain Box.". Plus Sep 1835 EL from the same writer in Peru to his brother and another of Mar 1834 written when Blonde was in Madeira. Early letters from Peru are rare. Transcriptions for all three. (3) £120
