FALMOUTH "A39" ON G.B. 4d ROSE-CARMINE STRIP OF THREE COVER TO KINGSTON + 6d COVER TO G.B.; 26 Aug. 1859 double-rate EL (worn fold through address, well clear of stamps) to Kingston with G.B. 4d Rose-Carmine Strip of Three (wing margin at right) tied by three very fine Falmouth "A39" Numerals with a mainly very fine small "FALMOUTH/JAMAICA" single-arc c.d.s. across the join on the reverse. Foster only recorded one A39 G.B. 4d Strip of Three cover. Attractive usage. [RPS 1989 cert.; ex Trivett & Urwick]. Plus a dubious 25 Aug. 1859 env. (address partly excised/erased) to G.B. with 6d Lilac tied (?) by assisted "A39" Numeral. [Both with RPS 1998 certs.] (2 covers) PHOTO - see page 27. £300

GAYLE "A41" ON G.B. 4d ROSE-CARMINE (TWO STAMPS; DOUBLE RATE) COVER TO KINGSTON; 19 Aug. 1859 EL (filing creases at left well clear of stamps) to Kingston with two G.B. 4d Rose-Carmines tied (one to the cover and the other by indentation) by fine to very fine Gayle "A41" Numerals with a mainly fine "GAYLE/JAMAICA" sanserif double-arc c.d.s. and Kingston arrival c.d.s. (both with creases) nearby on the front. [RPS 1979 cert.] Foster only recorded four A41 G.B. franking covers and none with a 4d Pair. [The similar single franking cover in Cavendish's Mar. 2014 Hemmings auction, lot 130, realised £400.] Attractive usage; Exhibition Quality. PHOTO - see page 27. £400

GAYLE "A41" ON G.B. 4d ROSE-CARMINE COVER TO KINGSTON; 28 Feb. 1860 EL (minor dusting) to Kingston with G.B. 4d Rose-Carmine tied by a very fine Gayle "A41" Numeral with mainly very fine "GAYLE/JAMAICA" sanserif double-arc c.d.s. nearby on the front. [RPS 1989 cert., unhelpfully stating that it was genuine "as far as one can say" which rather overlooks the fact that the stamp is tied both to the cover and by clear indentation through the cover!] Foster only recorded four A41 G.B. franking covers. [The similar but less attractive cover in Cavendish's Mar. 2014 Hemmings auction, lot 130, realised £400.] Attractive usage; Exhibition Quality. PHOTO - see page 27. £300

Click to view full image... GREEN ISLAND "A46" PLUS "A01" ON G.B. 4d ROSE-CARMINE PAIR ON COVER TO KINGSTON; 12 May 1859 E (some ink-etching of address) from "Grange Hill" (filing note) to Kingston with G.B. 4d Rose-Carmine Pair tied (by indentation) by a light Kingston "A01" Numeral and cancelled by a fair but readily recognisable rare Green Island "A46" Numeral with only a very fine "GAYLE/JAMAICA" double-arcs c.d.s. (crease) on the reverse; clearly this small P.O. was lazy about clear Numeral strikes and did not often use its datestamp. Probably a Unique Combination of two different Numerals on one G.B. cover. [RPS 1989 cert., which fails to note the A46 Numeral at all!] Foster only recorded five A46 G.B. franking covers. Attractive usage PHOTO - see page 27. £300

(partly off the edge) on the reverse. Foster only recorded four A54 covers with the 6d Lilac. [RPS 1989 cert.]. Very attractive cover. PHOTO - see page 28. £300

Click to view full image... VERY RARE UNDERPAID "MONEY LETTER" WITH MILE GULLY "A55" ON 6d LILAC ON COVER TO KINGSTON; Remarkable 3 May 1859 E (flap cut for display) to Kingston endorsed "Money Letter" with G.B. 6d Lilac (trifling rub at top?) tied by a very fine rare Mile Gully "A55" Numeral (SG £350 off cover) but also endorsed "6[d] postage/4[d] fine/10[d to pay]" alongside the stamp; the sender had paid the letter postage but not the extra 6d due for registration of this letter that presumably contained cash. There are very fine "MILE-GULLY/JAMAICA" and "KINGSTON/JAMAICA" backstamps slightly across the join. Very rare even as an ordinary "A55" franking (of which Foster only recorded 4 covers), but also one of only a handful of G.B. Used in Jamaica Money Letters and/or Postage Due covers. [RPS 2001 cert.] Highly Important Jamaica Exhibition Item. PHOTO - see page 8. £1,200

Click to view full image... MILE GULLY "A55" NUMERALS ON PIECE WITH G.B. 1d REDS (2) + 4d ROSE-CARMINES (2) - THE RATE TO FRANCE; Spectacular 11 Mar. 1860 irregular piece of a small envelope - presumably addressed to France at the 10d (1/2 oz.) rate with two G.B. 4d Rose-Carmines (one creased where placed over the edge) and a Pair of G.B. 1d Red 'Stars' (one defective at top; total SG £1,550 as stamps off cover!) all tied to the cover and/or by indentation through the cover by fair to fine rare Mile Gully "A55" Numerals with a very fine matching small double-arcs "MILE-GULLY/JAMAICA" c.d.s. (also indented) alongside. [RPS 1998 cert. referring to the enhanced Numerals.] It is our opinion that all the stamps do belong to this piece, but some idiot has decided to 'gild the lilly' by painting in the central Numeral on the 1d Reds Pair and trying to add an extra tie (entirely unnecessary!) at the left of the Pair. All the other cancels and ties are fine. One of only a handful of recorded G.B. Used in Jamaica 10d-rate items. PHOTO - see page 28. £150
