An oblong 8vo printed brochure issued for the Proteus Bluebird Project 1963 World Challenge, signed and inscribed by Campbell in bold blue fountain pen ink to a clear area of his image on the first introductory page. Two file holes to the left edge of the brochure, not affecting the image or signature, and some light creasing and age wear to the paper covers, which also feature a red ink annotation in the hand of a previous owner. OWENS JESSE: (1913-1980) American Athlete, famous for his participation at the Berlin Olympics in 1936 where he became the first American to win four Olympic Gold medals in track and field events. Vintage signed 7 x 5 photograph of Owens standing in a three quarter length pose engaged in conversation with the German athletes Gerhard Stock and Armin Hary, both also Olympic Gold medallists, Stock also winning his at the 1936 Olympic Games. Signed 7.5 x 9.5 photograph, the historic image depicting Bannister sprinting in a full length pose, crossing the finishing line at the Iffley Road track in Oxford to become the first man to run a mile in under four minutes, 6th May 1954. DUSE ELEONORA: (1858-1924) Italian Actress. A.L.S, E. Duse, one page, 8vo, Florence, 7th June 1899, to a gentleman, on the attractive printed stationery of the Hotel Helvetia, in French. Duse states that she has received her correspondent's letter and 'would like very much to discuss with you the proposals of a contract in North America that you have just made me.'
