The partially printed document is a contract between Bechet and the Orchestra Bureau of Philadelphia, for a series of performances over two weeks at the Rendezvous Club in the Hotel Senator, commencing on 15th May 1950, for a salary of $950 per week. Vintage signed and inscribed 8 x 10 photograph of Rushing standing in a full length pose with a microphone before him. Signed in fountain pen ink to the centre of the image with reasonable contrast. Together with W. C. Handy (1873-1958) American Composer and Musician, known as the Father of the Blues. A folio printed copy of the sheet music for They that sow in tears (Shall reap in joy) signed and inscribed by Handy in bold blue fountain pen ink to an inside page and dated 10th September 1951 in his hand. Signed by Presley in bold black ink to a clear area of the front cover, 'To Joan, Thanking you for everything, your friend, Elvis Presley'. The cover features an image of Presley standing outdoors in a half length pose. Record still present. Some light overall scuffing, only very slightly affecting the signature, about G £300 - 400

BEATLES THE: Vintage signed 9.5 x 7 photograph by all four members of The Beatles individually, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the image showing the Fab Four performing together on a stage. Signed by each in ink to largely clear areas of the image, Lennon adding an inscription in his hand, 'To Rita, love from The Beatles, John Lennon xxx'. The signatures of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison are all slightly faded although remain legible. Starr's signature is dark and bold. Very slightly neatly trimmed to the lower edge, just affecting Lennon's signature, and with one very minor tear to the left edge, just affecting the white border, and slight corner creasing, about VG £2000 - 3000
Provenance: The photograph was presented by The Beatles to Rita Gillespie, director of the popular music television show Boy Meets Girls which ran from 1959-60. The present photograph is accompanied by a second 4.5 x 4.5 original colour Kodak photograph of The Beatles with Rita Gillespie on the set of a television show, the Fab Four dressed in Court Jesters costumes and, with the exception of Starr, each playing brass instruments.

LENNON JOHN: (1940-1980) English Musician, a member of The Beatles. Autograph Document, unsigned, one page, oblong 8vo, n.p. (New York), n.d. (1979-80), to Fred [Seaman]. The holograph document, on a feint ruled yellow sheet, is a 'to do' list prepared by Lennon for Seaman, headed F.S. and comprising eleven points, in full, '(1) What was the result of taking Y's spoiled blouse to cleaners? (2) Why not? (3) Chicken (4) Strawberries,
Peas ⁄ÿ(5) Spinach (6) Carrots (Better Nature has some good organic ones) * (7) Apples (?) Blueberries (8) Try not to leave letters & mags in office all day/everyday. (9) Billy Graham (new book on him) (10) Get some nice white flowers and put on Y's desk (in vase) from 'Daddy & Sean' (11) I (one) yogurt (plain) *' To the verso Lennon has penned Seaman's name 'FRED' twice, enclosing each in a square box. An interesting document from Lennon's later life when he was living, largely as a recluse, in the Dakota Apartments on Manhattan's West Side. when A few small staple holes to the edges and some extremely minor, light creasing, otherwise VG £2000 - 3000
Fred Seaman, a young New Yorker, worked for Lennon as his assistant during much of 1979 and 1980. Lennon had been attracted by his name for Lennon's father, Freddie, had been a seaman.
The present document is apparently unpublished and does not appear in The John Lennon Letters edited by Hunter Davies (2012).

Hughie Green (1920-1997) was one of the most familiar faces in British light entertainment for over three decades
and is perhaps best remembered today as the host of the talent show Opportunity Knocks.
Robert Sharples (1913-1987), the British Musical Conductor, Composer & Bandleader, collaborated with Green as Musical Director of Opportunity Knocks, Green routinely referring to him as 'Uncle Bob' Sharples.
Christina Sharples (1933-2013) married Robert Sharples in 1977 and, after his death in 1987,
became the companion of Hughie Green until his death in 1997.

GREEN HUGHIE: (1920-1997) British Entertainer & Television Presenter. D.S., Hugh H Green, being his personal Canadian Passport, the small 8vo passport issued by the Canadian Government on 2nd July 1992 (expiring 2nd July 1997), giving Green's place and date of birth and featuring his photograph. Signed in blue ink with his name alone. Containing a small number of official immigration stamps at Heathrow, Ramsgate and the Channel Tunnel 1993-95. Also including an original oblong folio Certified Copy of an Entry of Birth for Hughie Green, detailing his place and date of birth, parents' names and occupations etc., dated 6th February 1920 (four days after Green's birth), a later copy of the same document, issued on 9th January 1940, two similar documents recording the births of Green's parents (both FR). Together with an original folio document issued by the Superior Court for the District of Montreal on 17th February 1952 confirming the marriage of Hugh Hughes Green to Audrey Claire Wilson on 26th September 1942, a Deed of Separation between Green and his wife, 7th September 1962, detailing payments of £3000 p.a. that Green must make to his wife and allowing Green access to his son, Christopher 'at all reasonable times provided always that until such time as Christopher attains the age of eighteen such access shall be only in Canada and that the husband may correspond with Christopher as often as he thinks fit.....', although curiously making no reference to access, or otherwise, to his daughter, Linda, and a Supplemental Deed of Variation dated 4th July 1968, both signed by Audrey Claire Green. GREEN HUGHIE: (1920-1997) British Entertainer & Television Presenter. Hughie Green's Royal Canadian Air Force Pilot's Flying Log Book, the small 4to hardbound volume detailing Green's flights from June 1942 to September 1955, all neatly recorded in ink by Green detailing the type and number of aircraft flown (including Tiger Moth, Avro Anson, Vickers Stranraer, Dakota C47, Lancaster etc.) the pilot and crew, duties and hours flown etc. Signed by Green at the beginning beneath a holograph statement certifying that he 'fully understand the engines limitations, endurance, fuel and oil system, auxilary (sic) controls of the Tiger Moth...' The log book also includes a few small photographs laid down to pages and some T.Ls.S. and other documents relating to Green's aviation career (some partially laid down, others loosely inserted). Together with a small 4to partially printed document certifying that Green served on active service with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 22nd May 1941 before being released on 30th October 1945, signed by Green. Also including Green's commission, the oblong folio partially printed document issued to Hugh Hughes Green and appointing him to be a Pilot Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Special Reserve, Ottawa, 26th January 1943, several other aviation related certificates awarded to Green, and further including his five miniature service medals including the Defence Medal etc. (cased). Green developed an early enthusiasm for flying and during World War II served as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force ferrying aircraft across the Atlantic with RAF Ferry Command.

An interesting collection of printed ephemera, programmes, newspaper clippings etc., relating to the career of Hughie Green, including printed invitation cards to recordings of Opportunity Knocks at Manchester 1964 & 1968, Thames Television Studios 1968, pamphlets for the show incorporating voting slips, a programme for Opportunity Knocks in Tokyo, programmes for The Hughie Green Show at Southsea and Barnsley, Royal Command performance programmes for the Victoria Palace 1960 and the London Palladium 1971 (the latter with accompanying certificate issued to Green as one of the representative artistes, an admittance ticket for Mike and Bernie Winters Big Night Out with guest stars The Beatles, 23rd February 1964, early posters promoting Hughie Green and His Gang, many newspaper clippings relating to Green's career including a number from 1974 enclosed in an envelope with the typed caption Jess Yates Scandal, a few 45rpm records of Green, including his infamous Stand Up and Be Counted, the plain sleeve curiously annotated in Green's hand 'Cleverest Carpenter. Because with one screw she made the biggest shithouse in the country. Why was Richard Burton the greatest carpenter in Wales', a folder containing various folio typed sheets relating to Opportunity Knocks 1964-72, listing the winners of each programme, including Mary Hopkin, Frank Carson, Les Dawson, cast lists for various shows including Little & Large, Bobby Crush etc. FR to generally G to VG, Qty. £80 - 100
