St. Helena. 1902 Picture postcard of St. Helena (small edge tear) with message written in Russian, presumably by a Russian volunteer in the Boer forces, sent registered to Tiflis in the Caucasus with St. Helena, London Registered and Tiflis datestamps. Franked by two 4d on 6d adhesives each tied by a cork cancel with violet "R" within a circle and oval "REGISTERED / ST. HELENA", circular censor cachet initialled "EW" by E. Walton. 1837 (Sep 8) Three page letter sent to Sir John Philipport in London with red boxed "INDIA LETTER / BRIGHTON", written by Sir James Alexander from "The Cedar Mountains" towards the end of his year long expedition to Namaqualand and Damaraland, undertaken on behalf of The Royal Geographical Society, containing a detailed and interesting account of the expedition. Also other prestamp letters and documents including 1798 Order from the Governor to the Royal Artillery storekeeper at Cape Town; 1789 part document with red VOC wax seal; 1802 affidavit regarding stores on H.M Sloop "Penguin" at Table Bay; 1850 entire letter from India to the Cape; 1851 entire to Cape Town with a London F.A.C; and c.1828 entire letters posted from Graaff Reinet or Stellenbosch to Cape Town.
