A CASED 1902 SPECIMEN SET OF 13 COINS. The Royal Mint 1902 set in case of issue, Five Pound to Maundy Penny in matt finish. Issued to commemorate the Coronation of Edward VII, with the £5-£2-Sovereign and Half Sovereign coins in gold, the Crown to the Maundy Penny in silver. The 2d Maundy piece appears to be a brighter or cleaner finish, than the other coinage examples. See Illustration £2500-3000

A Death Plaque named to Frederick S Beath. 255153 Pte Frederick Stewart aged 28, the son of the late Lt Colonel John Henry Beath AMD and Mary S Beath of 24 Willoughby Drive, Anniesland, Glasgow. Date of death 4th January 1917, buried in Moose Jaw Cemetery, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was serving in the 210th Canadian Infantry the East Ontario Regiment. £50-70

BADGES OF A VICTORIAN SURGEON & HIS WIFE. A Helmet badge and crossbelt or pouch badge of the Army Medical Department. Victorian Crown over VR with three screw mounts to the reverse, two with square brass nuts. An officers cap badge of some 57mm overall height, of a voided two piece construction. The central disc at the rear being of gilt finish, two screw and nut fixings method. Hand written missive attached states, 'This Insignia was worn by the late Dep Sur Gen J H Beath, MD CB (Military Stirling) From the Indian Mutiny to Egyptian Campaign, Tel el Kebir and so on, till his death 4th Sept 1904. Also his wife's award of the Diploma Badge 1886, St Andrews Ambulance Association Top bar dated 29-1-1886, above suspended St Andrews Ambulance Association 1886 medal. Again an old hand written missive, Diploma Badge St Andrews Ambulance Association (Hamilton Branch Scotland). Mother of Daniel Beath. John Henry Beath A S Staff 1857 Served China 1860. Egypt 1882 CB 1992. 3rd Class Order of Medjidie A Victory medal to 51739 Pte D T Beath The Queens Regt. Daniel Trench Beath also served in the Labour Corps and the S W B. The certificate is dated 6th October 1900, War Office & GOC Edinburgh. 1 Bronze. 1. Certificate. Man named in margin (Cousins), various notations on the back OC Lanark etc. Case No 30712 2nd Batt Scottish Rifles. On the 16th Jan 1900 Cpl J Carr of the same battalion was carried away by the current while crossing the Tugela River in South Africa. At great risk, Cousins swam out and succeeded in saving him. The medal has a solder repair to the claw and swivel mount. £100-150
