WORLD WAR II: A colour 32.5 x 25 print by artist Robert Taylor entitled The Mighty Eighth - Outward Bound (1992) depicting the fighter pilots of the US 8th Air Force preparing to leave an English airfield in their P-47 Thunderbolts on a mission to Germany, with a B-17 formation already flying above. Individually signed by the American pilots Gabby Gabreski, Pete Peterson, Don Blakeslee, Robert Johnson, Hub Zemke and Bud Mahurin, all in bold pencil with their names alone to the lower border beneath the image. BROWN CHARLES (1922-2008) American Bomber Pilot of World War II & STIGLER FRANZ (1915-2008) German Luftwaffe Pilot of World War II. A signed 17 x 11 print entitled Brothers in Chivalry by artist Kelli Spiller (2004), the image depicting pencil head and shoulders studies of the pilots Brown and Stigler wearing their uniforms, with additional pencil drawings of their aircraft below, alongside brief printed text. Limited edition number 208 of 400. Signed by both Brown and Stigler with their names alone in bold pencil to the lower border and also signed in pencil by the artist. Neatly cornermounted to a board. The Charlie Brown and Franz Stigler incident occurred on 20th December 1943 when, following a successful bomb run on Bremen, Brown's B-17 Flying Fortress (named Ye Olde Pub) was severely damaged by German fighters. Luftwaffe pilot and ace Franz Stigler had an opportunity to shoot down the crippled bomber, but instead, for humanitarian reasons, decided to allow the crew to fly back to their airfield in England. The two pilots met each other 40 years later after extensive search by Brown and the friendship that the two developed lasted until their deaths.

TIBBETS PAUL: (1915-2007) American Brigadier General of the United States Air Force, pilot of the Enola Gay, the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb in the history of warfare. Signed colour 12 x 8 photograph, being a reproduction of an artist's drawing of the Enola Gay in flight. Signed ('Paul Tibbets, Pilot, Enola Gay') in bold blue ink to a light area of the image. Together with a signed 10 x 8 photograph depicting the mushroom cloud over Hiroshima, signed ('Paul Tibbets, Pilot, Enola Gay, Hiroshima, 8/6/45') in bold blue ink to a light area of the image. EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.: (1890-1969) American General of World War II, later American President 1953-61. Signed 3.5 x 5.5 magazine photograph, the image depicting Eisenhower standing in a full length pose, wearing his military cap and overcoat, alongside two other military officers during a NATO inspection tour in Germany, April 1951. Signed by Eisenhower in fountain pen ink with his name alone to to the lower border beneath a printed caption. Slightly irregularly trimmed at the edges, otherwise VG £100 - 120

DE BONO EMILIO: (1866-1944) Italian General, one of the four founders (Quadrumvirs) of Fascism who organised and staged the March on Rome in October 1922. Executed by firing squad. A.L.S., E De Bono, on two sides of a printed correspondence card (with the printed heading and emblem Il Ministro per le Colonie), n.p., 6th April XII (1934), to a friend, in Italian. De Bono apologises for not replying to his correspondent's letter earlier and continues 'There is a little justified melancholy in what you write. It's life, my old friend, or rather I should say, our life. For you must not believe that great heights and power bring joy; quite the opposite; and when, like me, people are not ambitious for them they bring little satisfaction.' He concludes by remarking 'Another worry - irreparable, this one - is that people grow old! Let us lift up our hearts in every way.' VG £100 - 120

FRANK OTTO: (1889-1980) German-born Businessman, the father of Anne Frank. D.S., Otto Frank, one page, 4to, New York, 16th September 1959. The typed document is addressed to the Argentine Society of Authors in Buenos Aires and refers to a contract entered into with Claudia Madero in which she was granted the Spanish language production rights in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile of the play The Diary of Anne Frank and explains that all royalty payments due were to be paid to Lawrence Smith, the South American representative of the copyright owners, stating 'Will you therefore consider this letter your authorization to pay over to Mr. Smith in our behalf any royalties in your possession now or which may accrue in the future from performances of The Diary of Anne Frank given in the territory under your jurisdiction.' Boldly signed by Frank in dark fountain pen ink at the foot and countersigned by the American Dramatists Frances Goodrich (1890-1984) and her husband Albert Hackett (1900-1995) and Myer D. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl was first published in English in 1952 and inspired Goodrich and Hackett's play The Diary of Anne Frank (1955) which they later adapted for the screen in 1959, the same year as the present document. The dramatists won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the New York Drama Critics Circle award for their original play.

BORMANN MARTIN: (1900-1945) Nazi Official, head of the Party Chancellery and Private Secretary to Adolf Hitler. T.L.S., Bormann, one page, 4to, Berlin, 28th September 1940, to Alfred Rosenberg, in German. Bormann informs his colleague that Adolf Hitler ('Der Fuhrer') is in agreement with the publication of an article that Rosenberg had submitted. HIMMLER HEINRICH: (1900-1945) German Nazi official of World War II, Reichsfuhrer of the SS. Booklet signed, being a printed small 4to edition of SS Leitheft, printed by M. Muller & Son, Berlin, 1942. The German booklet, with several black and white plate illustrations, bears paper wrappers featuring the Nazi swastika and eagles. Signed by Himmler in purple indelible pencil to a clear area at the head of the first page and dated 20th July 1942 in his hand. Scarce in this form. Some extremely light age wear, VG £200 - 300
SS Leitheft ('SS Lead-Booklet') was a Nazi periodical published by the main office of the Reichsfuhrer-SS Heinrich Himmler from 1934-45. Initially it was largely circulated between professional officers of the SS.

[GOERING HERMANN]: (1893-1946) German Political & Military Leader, a leading member of the Nazi Party and Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe. An unused 4to sheet of Goering's printed stationery featuring the black printed heading Der Reichsmarschall des Grossdeutschen Reiches in the upper left corner and his address at Leipziger Strasse, Berlin, and telephone number in the upper right corner. A couple of very light, extremely minor creases, VG £80 - 100
Provenance: Accompanied by a statement of origin signed by Richard O. Rex stating that he personally removed the stationery from the Reich Chancellery in Berlin in July 1945 after having been flown in to help establish a medical dispensary for use during The Potsdam Conference. Also signed by a Notary Public as a witness. Together with copies of further supporting detailed documentation relating to Rex and his acquisitions.

KESSELRING ALBERT: (1885-1960) German Luftwaffe Generalfeldmarschall of World War II. A series of nine original colour 10.5 x 8 lithographs by the artist Wilhelm Wessel, each showing different scenes within the town of Iserlohn, all signed in pencil by the artist and individually neatly mounted to 12 x 14.5 card. With a tenth lithograph of a more graphic design of Iserlohn. Contained in the original oblong folio presentation folder, with cloth covers, and with a loosely inserted printed introduction to the lithographs, in English. Part of the inside of the presentation folder is boldly signed and inscribed by Kesselring in dark fountain pen ink, 'Major Taylor, as a little prove of my gratitude for your sympathising humanity and for your ideal special treatment during my stay in hospital….in the months of Mary (sic) and June' Signed ('Kesselring', with his rank beneath) and dated Iserlohn, 21st June 1951. Also included is a loosely inserted oblong 8vo sheet bearing Kesselring's holograph notes, in German and English, in part, 'In the 2 World War 2 dignified enemies have been crossing their swords in the Italian country. This judgement looks for opposite understanding, which sees in a joining together of our people being its purpose.' MULLER RENATE: (1906-1937) German Actress & Singer, mistress of Adolf Hitler. Muller died in mysterious circumstances, possibly at the hands of the Gestapo, at the young age of 31.
