WINEHOUSE AMY: (1983-2011) English Singer. An extremely rare and remarkable illustrated A.L.S., Amy xxxx, six pages, 8vo, n.p., n.d., (2008), to her husband Blake Fielder-Civil ('Baby'). The singer writes an emotional love letter, announcing 'How can it be that we've spent more time apart than together since we've bin wed?' and continuing, in part, 'You're it baby, I want you, I'm ALWAYS thinking of you. I know you know and sometimes you'd probably want me to keep busy with frivolities instead of sitting sadly or wistfully in thoughts of you. Sometimes I don't like the idea of you thinking of me so much because it is frustrating + a tease - but then I think of you constantly, in between breaths, WITH EVERY BEAT OF MY HEART [written alongside a pen and ink drawing of a drum and two drumsticks] So we can wind ourselves up and tease ourselves and get excited together…..I want to look at pictures of you + shed little hot tears of frustration that you would laugh at and tickle me for. Blakela that was the BEST card EVER EVER EVER. Well, I tried to do one back but I had too much to say!…..Firstly baby, your Christopher [a 'creature' of which Winehouse has added a drawing] is the BEST. Mine looked silly. I already told you my first Chris didn't even have a nose! And I was wondering what I'd missed! See he looks like Orville the duck with a poo, I didn't think his nose would show cos of the dummy. I'm silly….I wondered if I can make you a tape now. Blakey I was even thinking of releasing a compilation for you! I don't care if a million music geeks wanna beat me up for commercialising our beloved Elvis - Billy Bragg - Madness - Sub lime. Specials! So I'm thinking: how about I WRITE you a few albums instead. Blake you are the winner of the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. I pinch myself thinking about pinching you baby. OH to kiss your skin. You are grace and majesty, your lips with mine are royal cushions plumped in preparation, pillows that carry us away in sweet savage dreams the minute they meet..You are real Blake, I feel like I've woken from a beautiful dream sometimes so colourful and loving and the only precious jewel I can pluck from memory in the mourning [sic] is a 5 letter fire alarm, a wail of Blake [her husband's name written in large letters, each formed by small hearts] and you're real! You are a REAL boy. Everything I could ever pray for, really my Boy Wonder….in 2009 we're gonna learn driving (as they would have it on paper) properly and everything. Then for Valentine's or our anniversary we can surprise each other with cars (1985 Porschehchee - a convertible WHITE pls and a proper 90's swimming costume to go with it, white Baywatch, a perm + white stilettoes). Don't forget to get me driving gloves - I'm getting your gloves before anything else! Plus for my birthday I got us loads + loads of Agent Provoc. stuff you'll love it. I'm gonna put it on now I've got to sort thru it. I spent about 3K but I live in wait for your face + lap and satisfied smile when I'm vulnerable and gritted teeth when I fuck your eyes….Oh I wish I could sit on your lap and just kiss you, kiss kiss kiss your fucking grin off until it gets very serious. When you begin drifting off and your eyes twitch the beginnings of a dream where we can be together! Blake do you feel my arms around you like I do the other way round? PLEASE my darling think of the same simple sweetnesses that I live for: to wake up + see you before anything else, to smell and taste you!! Oh Blakey I love you….heart you husband, my wonder boy. Your wanton wife in wait, your mermaduke civil…' Each of the pages are numbered ('A' '2' and '3') in the upper left corner by Winehouse above an illustration of a small red heart in her hand.
