A good pair of A.Ls.S., May, each two pages, 8vo, Marlborough House, 10th October and 14th November 1950, both to Dearest George (her nephew, George Cambridge, 2nd Marquess of Cambridge). In the first letter Queen Mary thanks her nephew for informing her of the date of his daughter Mary's wedding, although remarking 'but what I want more especially to know is whether Peter Whitley has got a job, which Mary hoped he would get at the end of last month?' and in the second letter thanking him for writing to her about the wedding and commenting 'I am glad it went off so well, tho I feel still that your dear child ought to have done better!', further referring to her nephew's wife, 'Poor Dorothy must be very tired after all the preparations & I hope she will have a good rest.' ROYAL CHILDREN: A small 12mo folding Christmas greetings card individually signed to the inside by three of the children of King George V and Queen Mary, comprising Prince Edward (later King Edward VIII), Prince Albert (later King George VI) and Prince Henry (later Duke of Gloucester). Signed by each in bold black fountain pen inks and dated 1907 in the hand of one of the Princes. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by the Prince's tutor, Henry Hansell, and addressed to J. Wilson Taylor at The Bath Club. The inside pages are neatly detached from the original ribbon and the back and front covers are neatly separated to the vertical central fold. About G £150 - 200
