1921 (Feb 22) KGV 1pi Postal stationery postcard to the Russian Consulate in San Francisco, the message written in Russian with the sender address given as "K. Labinsky, Polemidia Camp, Limassol, Cyprus", cancelled by Limassol squared circle. In 1920 camps for White Russian refugees from General Wrangels army were established at Karaolis Camp near Famagusta and Polymedia Camp near Limassol. Two registered covers are recorded from Karaolis (ex. Cruttwell and Warwick, sold for £1,600 each) and this one card from Polymedia. Tears to upper and lower edges but a unique card. Insured for Eighteen Pounds Stg (£18) equal to 450 gold francs" and bearing 1925 1/2pi and 1924 9pi, unfortunately stained and with faults to both stamps, still a scarce high insured rate franking. Also a 2 1/2pi G size registration envelope franked 2 1/2pi from Limassol to the same Athens address. (2). £150-180

1935 (Nov 22) Registered cover from Nicosia to Athens bearing two 1935 Silver Jubilee 2 1/2pi stamps, with "OPENED BY CENSOR" seal (long foot to "R") tied on both front and reverse by the red double ring "POSTAL CENSOR / G. (crown) R. / CYPRUS". The Cruttwell and Warwick collections each contained one example of this censor cachet (sold at £1,400 and £900 respectively), both used in 1936. Fine and very scarce. A fine example of this very scarce Edward VIII censor cachet. The Cruttwell and Warwick collections each contained one example of this censor cachet (sold at £1,100 and £950 respectively). 1952 (Jan 2) Large canvas bag (35x18cm) registered from Nicosia to Sweden with customs declaration form for "Cyprus Laces, gift parcel, value five pounds" franked by 1938-51 KGVI 4pi vertical pair, 9pi, 45pi and £1 each tied by oval Registered datestamps, violet "TOLLFRITT / 8 JAN 1952 / STOCKHOLM 1" handstamp. A remarkable 242 piastres rate, possibly a unique use of the £1 value on a commercial item, which folds in half to display the stamps well on an album page size item. Photo on Page 34. £500-600

1952 (Dec 10) KGVI 4pi G Size registration envelope franked 1938-51 KGVI 9pi and 18pi on the front and 1pi and 6pi on the reverse all tied by oval Registered Paphos datestamps, with a Paphos registration label. Sent by air mail to the USA with superb boxed 36x24mm "A.R" handstamp on the front, backstamped upon arrival.
