De La Rue appendix pages, the first headed "Specimens of Printing Inks" with "Italy 6/93-98" in pencil, the two pages bearing fourteen blocks of four and two blocks of three Minerva Head De La Rue dummy stamps all in differing colours, eight blocks in colours used for Italy stamps with values from Cmi 1 to Cmi 30 alongside, one block in the colour of the India 4a stamp with "4 Annas Green" alongside, the other blocks with "Bank Note Black", "Bank Note Buff", "Bank Note Blue", "Aniline Purple", "Geranium Combination", "Maroon" or "Receipt Purple" alongside. The two blocks with one stamp excised both with manuscript "1L Italy 19/3/24". Two unique pages from the De La Rue archives, 184x313mm. (62 stamps on 2 pages). £800-1,000

  1916 (Nov 1) De La Rue appendix page bearing four imperforate strips of three Minerva Head De La Rue dummy stamps, two strips in red and two in light blue, the stamps all with manuscript "Cancelled 19/10/16" and "Stephens", "Bitrio" or "Fields", one red strip and one blue strip showing unsuccessful attempts to remove the manuscript. Also two pieces attached with part background designs printed in green or purple, both endorsed "Specimen of ink sent to Calgone, offset ink". An interesting and unique page, part of De La Rue's experiments to test inks and the possible removal of cancels and reuse of stamps, 193x328mm. £300-350

  1892 (July 8) Printed postcard sent at the ½d rate from Kings Lynn to Derringham, the front headed "North-Western Division of Norfolk Parliamentary Election", with some results of six years of Unionist rule printed on the reverse (120,000 additional allotments for labourers, pensions and votes given to Police, defensive forces increased by 60,000, 112 additional naval ships, peace restored to Egypt, African slave trade checked, two million square miles added to Empire in Africa, etc). The opened card gives details of where to vote and why one should vote for Lord Bentinck with a superb printed picture of Bentinck surrounded by flags, patriotic symbols and pictures of Salisbury, Devonshire, Balfour and Chamberlain.
