Probably just diverted to the Imperial Airways regular service which left the same day as the race started and arrived in Singapore on the 29th. Posted a week apart but both delayed en route, catching the third flight from Khartoum to Nigeria. Scarce, the first Singapore flight covers to reach Nigeria, very little mail flown on either date. 1937 (Feb.) Junkers JU 86 delivery flight from Dessau, Germany to Melbourne via Singapore, envelope with printed view of the Junkers plane "Buckeberg", apparently sent under cover from Batavia to Germany and hand carried on the flight which left Dessau on Feb. 17th, addressed to a "Chief Pilot bound for Singapore, to be posted in Melbourne" but posted instead at Singapore (Feb. 24) franked $1, forwarded to Batavia (Feb. 26). With newspaper cutting (in Dutch, with translation) about the "Buckeberg" flight and copy page from the Lufthansa archive giving the itinerary of the 22,000km flight by Capt. Kommol, which also tested the reliability of crude oil diesel engines; and a press photo of the aeroplane at Dessau prior to the flight, renamed "Lawrence Hargrave" after a pioneer Australian aviator.
