Lot incl. a marginal block of four and marginal pair of the 12pf red and a marginal pair of the 6pf violet. All are unmounted mint. These printings were intended for use in 'Operation Cornflakes'. Lot also incl. a single example of a "Futsches Reich" Hitler skull parody of the 12pf value and an unusual propaganda cancel with Hitler caricature. (10 items) £100

GERMANY - MISCELLANY OF ANTI-NAZI PROPAGANDA STAMPS/LABELS: Small group of issues incl. so-called "Spitler" stamp, a parody of the 1940 12pf + 38pf red-brown Hitler birthday stamp. Privately produced in the USA in 1943. Mint hinged; also "Goring imprisoned" imperf. mini. sheet of four, a parody of the 1943 Hitlers birthday issue, unmounted mint printed in violet depicts the head of Hermann Goring behind a wire grill. Thought to have been privately produced in the USA after WWII. Lot also incl. a label parodying 1942-43 'Winter Relief Fund' issue, a strip of 3 anti-Hitler labels inscribed "Help Lick 'im" and two 1999 Yugoslavia propaganda stamps. GIBRALTAR - RARE FOREIGN BRANCH TO PENNY POST "PP" TRANSFER MARK ON COVER EX PORTUGAL: Jan./March 1794 EL (faults affecting address panel but clear of marks) from Massarraiolos (near Lisbon) to London charged "1/6" with a mostly fine "MR/3" Foreign Branch Bishop Mark on the flap beside a matching black small handstruck "PP" mark (Jay L1024) which is now recognised as the 1794 forerunner of the rare F.B. "PP (year)" in circle marks. Only a handful of examples of this first plain "PP" mark - indicating that the letter was to be transferred from the FB P.O. to the local Penny Post letter carriers for delivery at no extra charge.
