A damask cream silk kimono woven with flower symbols and hand embroidered with very fine satin stitch and gold couch work depicting the Japanese rooster symbolising good fortune and gain, in wonderful rich colours, reds, greens and gold. Gold couch work, Japanese knot and hand-painted black lattice work. The kimono is lined in red silk with a padded hemline. The original sash belt is missing. 65" long (1)

The skirt is pleated with black satin insets and embroidered with flowers, within borders of embroidered and gold couch work on a black ground. TWO LATE C19TH CHINESE APRON SKIRTS
A lilac damask silk with single front panel decorated in peonies and butterflies in blue and white satin stitch with leaves of couched gold thread surrounded with a fringe of blue and white satin stitched flowers. The skirt has narrow panels of embroidered flowers at the back with lines of black satin between. The waistband and back black satin panel have been added later. 39" x 34". A further green silk skirt which has been pulled apart, leaving two panels, back and front of identical design. With peking knot peonies, butterflies in colourful satin stitch surrounded with a black satin border. Lined in coral silk damask. There is no waistband. Both panels measure 35" x 35" each. (2)
