Woven with 'romance of butterflies and flora motifs', in soft harmonious colours set against a red silk hand woven ground. The woven motifs are joined with gold thread. The long wide horse shoe sleeves have bands of woven flowers joined together with gold thread. Lishui waves and a central pagoda around the hem. Lined with red cotton and fastened with gilt cast metal buttons. (worn in places) (1)

Mid blue silk satin ground with nine five-clawed dragons in pursuit of flaming pearls amidst cloud scrolls all couched in gold wrapped threads above churning waves and lishui stripes. The extended sleeves have striped gold threads on a black silk ground and horse hoof cuffs. Round gilt filigree buttons fastening at the side. A 24.5" vent in the centre of both front and back of the robe. Lined in blue silk.
There is a separate hood with couched gold dragon. Good condition. 55" long. (2)

A finely embroidered C19th ladies tabard, depicting a crane facing to the right, three couched gold dragons with five claws, birds, clouds and auspicious creatures on a dark blue damask silk. Decorative front ties with lead motif buttons and bells and a knotted tassel fringe. 48" Long (1)

Of rectangular form with a central opening at the front, the two front panels with cranes above crashing waves, auspicious creatures and emblems of longevity decorate the front red silk panels, with ivory coloured silk collar detailed with very fine peking knot detailing peonies growing from vases, a crouching rabbit (moon) and gold couch work throughout. The back of the robe is elaborately detailed with a central pagoda paradise scene, surrounded by two, four clawed dragons chasing the fiery pearl within a surround of suns. Seven outlined stars enclosing gold couch worked dragons all amongst shou characters and other symbols of longevity. Either side of the collar the symbol of the moon-hare pounding the elixir of life and the golden cockerel symbolizing protection. With two facing gold dragons above waves, rocks at the base of the robe above a lishui stripe. All on an introcate light blue kesi woven ground of peonies, leaves and other flowers. Lined in red cotton. Front length 55" x 62" wide (there is small damage photographed above one crane) (1)

A midnight blue silk satin robe, embroidered in peking knot and satin stitch in mainly blue and white silks designed with peonies, lotus flowers, butterflies, within a satin stitch border. Having embroidered cream silk sleeve bands depicting a scene of two ladies by a pagoda surrounded with flowers. The robe has a pale blue silk damask lining. Front opening is straight with fabric buttons. (some damage).
