  1882 Egypt Medal (1882) no clasp, 1914-15 Star trio and 1882 Khedive's Star to 108364 S. Moss P.O. R.N. (S. Moss A.B. H.M.S. Tourmaline on Egypt, Khedive's un-named as issued) Egypt with heavy contact marks thus about fine, rest very fine to extremely fine. Samuel Moss died on 12th March 1915 while serving with HMS Suevic and is buried in Southampton Old Cemetery. With copied newspaper article, "A naval gunner named Samuel Moss, 51, met his death through attempting to board a moving train at Lime Street Station on Thursday evening. He was going home to Southampton on 2 days leave. The 5.20 London express was starting as he got on to the platform. He caught hold of the handrail on a dining car and tried to pull himself aboard, but overbalancing, fell between the carriages and was killed." With copied service record and CWGC, he was born in Preston 5/11/63, enlisted as a Boy 22/4/79, served Tourmaline 26/9/80 to 12/3/83, pensioned 7/2/02 and joined RFR. (R) £250

Tribute medal with castle in centre, Staffordshire knot either side, Borough of Stafford at top and W.C.T. Mynors Mayor at bottom, reverse South Africa Campaign 1901 around mounted trooper and kneeling soldier. Sold with extremely rare 1901 parchment granting Honorary Freedom of the Borough of Stafford with seal named to Horace Simpkin of No 89 Sandon Road, Stafford, a Private in the 6th (Staffordshire) Company Imperial Yeomanry. It is believed that all recipients of the tribute medal were also awarded the Freedom of the Borough. With 6 copied pages of service record, Horace Simpkin was born in Eccleshall, enlisted 5/1/1900 aged 22, embarked for S Africa 27/1/00, promoted Sgt 7/5/01, discharged 16/6/01, clasps confirmed. John Norris was killed in action with 8th Bn on the First Day of the Battle of Loos in the attack on Hulluch Village, 25th September 1915 and with no known grave is commemorated on the Loos Memorial. With copied CWGC, Soldiers Died, MIC and 4 pages of earlier service papers, he was born in Didcot, enlisted 1/2/1894, served Halifax, West Indies, S Africa 31/12/98 to 3/10/02, discharged 31/1/10, recalled for WWI landed France 7/8/15 and killed 6 weeks later.
