M15 was torpedoed and sunk by UC-38 off the Palestine coast with loss of 26 lives on 11th November 1917 and with no known grave is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. Click to view full image... WWI Distinguished Conduct Medal, BWM, Victory Medal and KGV Field Marshall's uniform Army LSGC to 1031790 Far S.Sjt W. Etheridge R.F.A. (27933 Far Sjt on DCM, 27933 Sjt on pair) very fine and better, small verdigris spot on Victory. William Etheridge's DCM was announced in the London Gazettes dated 17/4/19 and 25/2/20 while serving with 119th Bty, "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Beaudignies, on 2nd November 1918, when in command of a convoy of wagons. The convoy was subject to very heavy shell and machine-gun fire, several drivers and horses being wounded. He at once took charge, and by his magnificent example and fearlessness steadied the men, and extricated the wagon from a position of great danger. Throughout operations it was largely due to his courage and energy that the battery supply of ammunition was well maintained." With original Regular Army Certificate of Service (red book) and Pay Book, he enlisted 31/10/02, served India, Mesopotamia and France, discharged 30/1/27, full entitlement. (See photo) (R) £700

With copied MIC, LGs and 5 pages of service record, Thomas Nicholson enlisted in 8th Bn 1/4/13, embodied 5/8/14, to France 20/4/15, received gunshot wound in thigh and gas shell poisoning in 1918, promoted Sgt on posting to 15th Bn 8/8/18, granted 20% disability pension 12/1/19, numbers confirmed, from Tantobie/Stanley. Arthur Buckley's MM was announced in the London Gazette dated 16th July 1918. He served with 2/1st Staffordshire Yeomanry before the unit converted to an MGC Bn. Sold mounted in old frame with Staffordshire Yeo QV cap badge, shoulder title, MGC collar dogs, MGC C shoulder title, 9th MGC Sqn 1919 Kavanagh Cup Football Medal named 47354 L/Cpl A.R. Buckley Centre Forward and full length photo in uniform. Also with un-named Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds medal, photos of 9 MG Sqn football team, 4 others in uniform, official notification of LG entry. With copied MIC, LG, 5 pages of service record, he was born in Leeds, enlisted 9/10/16 while living in Fallowfield aged 31, landed France 15/2/17, with copied page of War Diary for 57th Div Sig Co RE in which Pte Holdsworth's award of MM is announced for 29/11/17 with remark "attached as runner" so most likely a Second Battle of Passchendaele award.   WWI 1914-15 Star, BWM, Russian Medal of St George 4th Class (No 1273292 on reverse) to 176845 E. Warnes M.A.A. R.N. (Shp Cpl on Star, 176845 E. Warnes M.A.A. 1916 on rim of St George and additionally engraved "Minotaur" Jutland on reverse at top) good very fine and better. Ernest Warnes was Mentioned in Admiral Jellicoe's Dispatches for the Battle of Jutland in London Gazette dated 15th September 1916, sold with original Admiralty MID certificate. With copied service record, born 1/2/78 in Gaywood, Norfolk, enlisted as a Boy 17/10/93, joined Minotaur 15/5/14 and served through WWI on her. Minotaur was an armoured cruiser on the China station when war broke out and was involved in combat action against German interests sinking a merchant ship and bombarding the Yap radio station. She was present at Jutland as the flagship of the 2nd Cruiser Sqn and escaped without suffering any casualties. Appears to be discharged 29/12/19, St George not confirmed on service record. Arthur Durham was killed in action at the Battle of Jutland on 31st May 1916 while serving on the battle cruiser H.M.S. Invincible which sank within a minute after her magazines exploded. There were only 6 survivors from a crew of 1,031. With no known grave he is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, from Bramley, Leeds. (R) £300
