Postal Order. 1st January 1881 Wellington Somerset One Shilling Postal Order No. 000001 with 'Wellington Som' circular date stamp, ink signed by Postmaster, fine, attached to 280mm by 170mm backing board. This is the first ever postal order issued from this Post Office on the first day that they were available for sale. Each Post Office was issued with their own batches of postal orders starting from No 000001. There are only 7 or 8 first serial numbers thought to exist, so very rare. (See photo) (R) £2000
