1976 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 Coupe RHD
Reg. No. LJN 42R
Chassis No. 9117600222
Engine No. 6670247
A rare Porsche indeed, the 3.0 litre was just produced for 1976-1977 and only 3,687 were built of which 2,564 were coupes with only a very few produced in right hand drive, probably in three figures. The website 911carrera3.com is a great source of information which is dedicated to the 3.0 Carrera and should be required reading for any potential buyers. This matching numbers example is finished in bronze and is recorded as being first registered on the 15th October 1976. The only apparent retro fit is the desirable Fuchs alloy wheels otherwise this car appears to be in standard trim. The history file is comprehensive and via the DVLA shows every owner from new, one of whom has recorded in meticulous detail every last job carried out on the Carrera during his ownership 1997 - 2002. There is photographic record of the removal of rusted areas, a record of punctures, chips to the screen as well as every home and garage job complete with receipts. A similar file exists of work and receipts dating between 1985 - 1997 which has been compiled by another former owner who registered the Porsche with a personal plate, 9 EUE. A 2003 receipt for a crankcase up engine rebuild by Straase, Porsche specialists of Leeds is on file and certainly on inspection the flat 6 fired up readily with that distinctive staccato bark. At the time of writing the recorded mileage is just 82,614 which is backed up by an almost complete run of MOT certificates 1985 - 2010, certainly the last three years have seen little or no use with a parking space in the dry barn workshop permanently occupied. The original manual and service book are located in the glove compartment within the black and dark grey interior the condition of which appears consistent with the minimum mileage and lack of bum on seat time. The bronze metallic paintwork is well matched all round and, where recent work has been carried out on the cills the resprayed areas are not discernable, some micro blistering is apparent on the twin vent whale-tail. This ultra desirable 3.0 litre Carrera will have a new MOT by the time of sale and is set to be driven from its Essex home to the sale ground, it is complete with the history file and V5C documentation. Porsche 911s are sharply in focus at present having just celebrated the 50th anniversary of its inception, rarities such as LJN 42R are surely set to rise in value and this is one of very few opportunities to obtain a very fine and well documented example in cared for condition.
Estimate £24,000 - £28,000

1960 948cc Austin Healey Sprite Mk1
Reg. No. SPN 852
Chassis No. AN5/45422
Engine No. 9C-U-H/45179
Finished in Old English White with a red interior this gleaming example of the 'Frog Eye' has been in the current lady owners possession since 2006. During that time much expense has been lavished upon it including an engine rebuild with new clutch, reground crank, new pistons, fast road cam and followers, unleaded conversion, new valves and springs, 2,000 miles have been covered since. The rest of the car has also been treated to a new fuel tank, skimmed drums, new brake linings and slave cylinders, new wheel bearings all round and Hardy Spicer bearings. The front suspension has been rebuilt along with the calipers, master cylinder and stainless steel brake pipes all round. On inspection the Sprite started readily from cold and a brisk drive through country lanes followed with a good turn of speed and fine handling evident. In the current ownership and previously the car has been extensively rallied, a fine collection of plaques and participation medals are supplied along with a good history file which chronicles ownership from 1992 onwards with many receipts and invoices, a run of MOT's and tax discs from 1992 to present and that all important Heritage Certificate confirming correct engine and chassis numbers. The vendor informs us that the Frog Eye will cruise very comfortably at 60mph and has been a very reliable car with no known faults, certainly this is a car that's always very pleased to see you and should prove a very sound investment that's a lot of fun. V5 documentation supplied along with current MOT valid until August 2014. Purchasers should note that the car was recorded as a Cat C (damaged but repairable) insurance loss in 2000.

1952 500cc Triumph TR5 Trophy
Reg. No. 391 UYF
Frame No. 32865
Engine No. TR5 32865
The VMCC extract from the Triumph works records show that TR5 32865 was despatched from the works on the 17th September 1952 to Harwoods Motorcycles in Richmond. The vendor states that it seems like that long since he purchased it in a much neglected state, this long term project has entailed sourcing some hard to find parts which hasn't hastened the project along. The engine has been rebuilt and the standard white metal bearings have been replaced with modern bearing races, rebuilt throughout including the wheels some compromises have been made with a view to an easier riding life. The carburettor is a later Amal unit and the kickstart lever is a longer 'unit' type making the early morning ritual less of an ordeal, with a refurbished magneto and a magnificent high level siamese replica exhaust system from Armours this is an eye catching example of the very desirable TR5. The DVLA are in the process of supplying a long overdue registration number (now supplied) based on the Triumph Owners Club dating certificate that will be supplied along with the new V5C document. A very pretty example indeed.
Estimate £7,500 - £8,500

1919 225cc Triumph Junior
Reg. No. Unknown
Frame No. 259167
Engine No. 3087
Consigned from a deceased's estate this fine looking Junior has been tucked away in a barn for a considerable period of time. It appears complete in all respects and has a full acetylene lighting system, leather toolbags and rubber drive belt. Little other information has been discovered and no documentation has been found. Certainly the frame and engine numbers appear consistent with an original 1919 machine, the gearbox is numbered 2950 and case halves all appear to match, possibly a (much) older restoration, a fine opportunity.
Estimate £2,500 - £3,500

C1956 250cc LCH Racer
Reg. No. N/A
Frame No. None found
Engine No. 795487
Leonard Clifford Harfield (1920-2002) was a gifted Hampshire based engineer who was well known for his scratch built racing machines which challenged the might of the factory bikes in international race meets during the late 1950's. As well as a talented builder Len was also a fierce race competitor including the IOM TT, a big accident at Mallory Park in 1959 (believed to be on this machine) reduced his participation on the track and in 1960 he started a garage business which is still going strong. Later Len became a technical official at race meetings and was Chief Scrutineer at the TT for 11 years. This particular example of an LCH is understood to have been built in 1956/7 with a 250cc NSU power-plant and, as mentioned, was raced by Len, he mentions this bike in an autobiographical interview which is transcribed on iomtt.com under the competitors database. It was subsequently sold to another rider G Collis and then moved into the custody of Alex Campbell around 1959, both TT competitors. Having been consigned from a deceased's estate the history is a little sketchy but it was stated that the bike was ridden in the IOM in 1961 resulting in a DNF when the big end blew, it was also mentioned that the engine was built and tuned by John Hamilton and a continuous period of club racing until 1975 followed. Subsequently recovered from a Portsmouth shed in 1986 when it came into its current custody, Len Harfield was approached and he confirmed that it was indeed one of his bikes with his hand built frame. Len offered to rebuild it and 4 years later, the task complete, the LCH took up pride of place in the living room where it has remained ever since mounted on its front and rear stands. Apparently based on the NSU Max single cylinder overhead cam, it is not known what the internal engine specification is, certainly it has not been run since the rebuild and looks a very tempting thing to get back to running order. With plenty of scope for further research and opportunity for parade laps this is a rare chance to acquire a period racing machine put together by its original designer and builder, sound provenance indeed. The 250cc LCH will be offered for sale without documentation.
Estimate: £4,000 - £6,000

The Triumph model year ran from August to the following July. The rigid frame with sprung hub and all alloy engine are correct as is the remote float Amal carb and single sided front hub.
