on board H.M.S/ Niger at New Plymouth to his parents in Rochdale, countersigned
by the Commanding Officer and bearing 1d. orange cancelled "6" with London Paid transit c.d.s. (12.7) alongside, the reverse with despatch and arrival (12.7) c.d.s.;
the letter, headed "H.M.S. Niger" and written in poor English, refers to family matters. The adhesive defective and the envelope soiled though a rare survivor from a member of the forces involved in the Battle of Waireka, historical details of which accompany the cover. Photo £1,300-1,500
