Early Gold Coast postal stationery and privately printed illustrated postcards allow studies of village cancellations and postal routes. Showing addressee, sender, messages and all postal markings, postcards are ideal forms of postal history. These Gold Coast postcards reveal many fascinating stories - told by soldiers, traders, colonial officials, missionaries and explorers.
Peter Newroth's Gold Coast exhibits received Vermeil and Gold awards. Research on inland mail routes was published in
"The London Philatelist" (1999) and "The Postal Services of the Gold Coast to 1901" (Sacher (Editor), 2003, RPSL).
His seven-part series on Gold Coast philately in "The Canadian Philatelist" (2003-06) was awarded the 2005 Geldert Medal
by the Royal Philatelic Society of Canada
