1841-69 Line Engraved covers comprising 1841 letter with fine 1d red plate 10, 1852 letter with 1d red (3 margins) cancelled by blue "68", 1857 large registered cover with 2/- rate paid by Large Crown perf 14 2d blue block of six + two strips of three (cover faults, stamps fine), and 1869 registered cover paid 7d including 1d block of four. 1843-53 Entire letters and covers bearing imperf 1d reds (14), also an entire letter with 2d blue, including numeral cancels in blue (2), 1844 cover with 1d cancelled by straight line "OLDBURY" + numeral "75", 1d on lavender tinted paper affixed using sealing wax, etc., nearly all fine four margin stamps. 1849 Entires bearing 1d reds, two posted at Basingstoke or Bradford with tiny stamps cut into on all sides so that the corner letters are missing, the third entire posted at Maybole with the value overwritten and extra hair drawn on the Queen's head by the sender prior to use, all three stamps accepted for postage despite being invalid according to Post Office regulations. 1846 (Apr 17) Entire letter from James Buchanan in Edinburgh to New York bearing 1841 2d blue plate 3 JG-JL strip of six (JH crossed by vertical file fold and JL cut into at right, otherwise fine with good margins), each cancelled "131", endorsed "p. Cambria from Liverpool" with red "7". The letter talks of the ongoing Oregon controversy and the halting of railroad bills through Parliament.
