A George III antique sterling silver salver, London 1783 by Elizabeth Jones Of oval form with beaded rim and fluted cavetto edge, sat upon four splay feet similarly decorated. With bright cut engraved and punched decoration to the outer edge, the centre with an armorial enclosed in a similarly decorated band. The armorial with a crest of a stag's head erased to dexter. The reverse with presentation inscription in cursive script reading 'Presented to the Revd W.m M. Bradford. By W.m Hickey Esqr as a token of friendly regard and esteem. 1819'. Fully marked to the reverse. Length-44.8 cm / 17.6 inches Weight-1751 grams / 56.3 ozt £800-1200 Elizabeth Jones registered her mark on January 15th 1783 of Bartholomew Close, she is believed to be the widow of Robert Jones. She specialised in the production of waiters, salvers and trays. A waiter with the very rare duty drawback mark is known by her (The Arthur Holder Collection, Wooley and Wallis 25/10/16 lot 383) showing that the business sold abroad. This is Frisbee's fifth mark, registered on 2 June 1801 at Inner Court, Bridewell Hospital. In 1792 he had a brief partnership with Paul Storr.
