U.S.A. - CIVIL WAR PERIOD - CIVIL WAR PATRIOTIC PICTORIAL "STAND BY THE FLAG" COVER - UNPAID TRANSATLANTIC USAGE TO G.B.; 22 Apr. 1862 usage of this bicoloured Flag env. (small repair to top right corner, opened out and with some discolouration at left partly affecting printed design) from Boston (superb "BOSTON BR. PKT./5" c.d.s. on the front) to Wales charged "1/-" and then redirected to London with the charge increased to "1/1" (extra 1d for unpaid redirection). Rare Transatlantic usage.
